He's too young, period. If you are potty training because you HAVE to, for daycare reasons, etc., then you are just going to have to accept that you are going to have a lot of accidents until he is ready...basically at 3. All the recent research shows that boys are slower at potty training, and that the typical age for success is closer to 3. If you are doing it because you just want to, and are sick of dealing with diapers...amen sister...but you probably need to accept that you are going to have a lot of poopy accidents over the next several months, and that is harder to deal with away from home than a dirty diaper.
If you are feeling pressured to potty train because someone in your life is telling you it is time - try to let that go. They are ready when they are ready, and there is a lot of medical documentation out there now that states that at 2 they are just not ready developmentally to be potty trained.
