My son is 4 and has no interest in going to the potty : but my daughter who is only 2 is very excited about going. What am I doing wrong and why won't my 4 year old use the bathroom. Any help would be great.

What can I do next?

I don't have any advice, but wanted to let you know that it's normal for girls to potty train before boys. Maybe buying some cloth diapers/training pants would help. They don't pull the water away the way disposables do so he knows he's wet without the scary chemicals that those new pull ups have to feel cold if they pee.
Good Luck!

I think I read somewhere that girls are easier to potty train than boys. But, I have a 2 1/2 year old girl that was really excited about using the potty when she started. After a few months of trying, she lost interest. Also, she was fine with peeing in the potty, but when she had her first bowel movement, it terrified her. So we stopped trying for a while, and are going to be starting again soon. Good luck to you!

I have a 5 yeard old who at first was not into the whole potty thing. I let her run around the house with nothing on and she knew not to use the bathroom on the floor or what not and this is how i got her potty trained. At night time though she still where's goodnights. have you bought him (let him pick the underwear out) any cool underwear?or have you tryed any books, movies, or reward ideas??

i am a mother of 2 boys!! i trained them both in about 4 days each!! it is a persistance thing. do not buy pull-ups!. buy regular underwear, training pants, and some m&m's or other small candy that he likes but doesn't get often. then every 1/2 hour take him potty. "just to try" do this for an entire day. when he does use the potty then reward him with some of the candies.the next day do this in 1 hr times. on third day do this in 3-4hr times. and do it overnight every 4 hrs. by the 4th day you should have a toddler that will tell you he needs to go. also do not give in and put him in pull-ups overnight!!! you must stick to your guns. trust me this will seem like nothing compaired to the stuff you'll have to deal with in about 10yrs. oh i almost forgot the most important thing when using this method with boys, let them stand up!!! because that's the way daddy does it. hope this helps.
