Potty Seat Help, Please (Boy)

Maybe you can buy some of that soft foam stuff that has sticky on the back and put it around the edges or something to that effect. Plus it would be in a color so maybe he would think it was fun.

Okay, I have a 27 month old son that we potty trained at 20 months. We used the padded seat from Wal-mart. It has Elmo on it. It does not have sharp edges on it. The white and blue one does. He now stands and does great. A friend of mine takes her sons pants off and sits him on the seat backwards. My husband told me "NEVER DO THAT" . So, it's up to you. Good luck on this one.

hi A., i found a potty seat at walmart for like 10 dollars that you sit on top of the big toilet. it is cushioned on the seat and the cup part is rubber. my son liked it. i have two boys so i know what u are going through (twice, lol). if you have questions let me know. R.

Hi. We are also training my 23 month old son. Our potty seat does not have a guard so when he is ready to pee, I sit him back farther on the seat. It has really worked so far. The only thing is if he ever pees and poops at the same time we are going to have a mess! Worth it the rest of the times though I guess. Good luck!

I have heard try putting him on backwards.

One thing you might try is sitting him backwards on the toilet. I did this with my son but I believe it was without a potty seat. Good luck!

Try having him sit facing the back of the toilet rather than facing forward. They way they have to balance on the seat tilts the pelvis down so they don't pee everywhere. At least that worked with my son. (They down side is they have to get undressed to do this --- which at least keeps the clothes dry, but is a hassle when at the grocery store)

we had to hold it down as well and now he does it himself.

Try having him lean forward. Not too far that he's lying on his legs though. The "peter" should then point down to the point it won't come out the toilet and he can still see it.

I had the same problem with my son so I told him that he was such a big boy for going potty that he didn't even need a baby potty seat!!! If you position your son all the way back on the regular seat so that his butt is touching the back of the seat and have his legs spread out to each side quite a bit. He should be able to balance and by being that far back the pee should have enough room to go right in the potty (in full view for the little guy). My son was thrilled that he could go potty like big sister and Mommy and it worked out much easier for me since I didn't have to mess with the xtra seat--- Good Luck

I have a boy who is now 6 1/2yrs and he was the same way. So we tried the scooting back on the big potty and pointing the weewee down and then he could see the pee pee going in the water. After awhile he would follow his dad into the bathroom and soon developed the standing method. Just try what you think might work. In the long run, you will figure out the right way for him.

I was in the same boat. my son, Kayden wold never hold it down. He goes to an in-home daycare, and there is another little boy. One day he came home and I walked in on him going to the potty. the difference was he was standing up. I know it is early, and i hated the idea. but it worked. he got to see, and I don't have to clean as ofted. He still has his days where he just doesn't pay attention, but it is better now. My mom used cerial w/ my brother when he was younger. hope this helps.

I bought a toddler urinal for my son.It is by peter potty.I never found it in a store but online only.I just searched peter potty under yahoo and it brought up stores that carried it.I know target carries it online.Anyway it's about $40 but it really flushes and it grows with your child that way you don't have to worry about him trying to stand up and get everywhere because it's just the right size for him!

my husband's solution to this was to have the boys sit as far back as they could on either the extra seat or the regular seat. the down side was once they were used to doing it that way, well pooping just didn't feel right. So I got him to work with them standing up. The down side to that, well they drop their drawers to pee even standing up. That's pretty embarrasing for them to do at school but it doesn't stop them.

Me, I jiggle his legs to get everything in place and it's automatically pointing down while he leans over to see him self pee. Until the Walmart potty flushed while he was sitting on it. Now he stands up to pee. I'm still trying to convince Them they dosn't need to drop their drawers to pee.

Keep trying.

Get him a footstool and teach him how to stand up to pee in the regular toilet. It makes bubbles, he'll be enthralled.

If you turn him around backwards he won't pee on the floor. It's just a pain with taking out one leg from his shorts, so that his clothes aren't in the way.

Hi A., Have you (or Dad rather) tried letting him stand up to pee? My son really wasn't thrilled at all with the whole sitting down thing. After Dad showed him how to stand up, he became very eager to go. However, my son is almost three and he really wasn't ready until a couple of months ago. My advice is not to rush him and just keep up the encouragement! Good luck!

I don't have boys but my best frind has three! She ask the boy if he wants to pee or else. If pee she would ask him to do it standing up, it is hard at the beginning but they learn pretty fast, give him a couple of days full time. Otherwise, let him sit and do his thing. Good luck if they both come at the same time! :)
