Meatballs are great to bring in a crock pot. If you google meatballs with grape jelly, you will get many recipes. They sound weird, but are really great!
Ok, I can't even decide if I want to do something sweet or salty, nor am I the best cook on the planet. I need ideas, moms! What course dish or dessert do you get raves about at your Christmas pot luck events? Please share!!

Cold sesame noodles. This one is really close to the one I do (it's also from the NY Times but is much older, my copy is on a little piece of yellowed and stained newsprint). http://events.nytimes.com/recipes/9558/2007/04/01/Takeout...
You could do a home made Chex mix-- there are a GAZILLION different variations.....
I make a baked bean casserole with sausage and every kind of bean. It's easy to make. Just brown the sausage, add all the beans and other ingredients. Stir and bake.
I've taken my baked bean casserole to many pot luck dinners. It's always a hit. Everyone asks for the recipe. So I take several copies of the recipe printed on one side of an index card and my business card info on the other side.

One of the best things I've ever had that is pretty simple is macaroni and cheese with bigger noodles and mozzarella, with crumbled bacon and crumbled tim's cascade type chips (kettle chips) on too. Yum! Might need to make that this week now! My husband makes baked beans for any barbecues, simmers them for hours with hammocks and brown sugar, everyone loves them and requests them.
