Hi,
We're having trouble with the wording of a postponement announcement for a baby shower. The original shower date was set and invitations were already sent out. The Mom-to-be was recently put on bed rest and is no longer able to travel to the out of state shower. We've decided to postpone the shower to after the baby's arrival when traveling is an option. Since we have time and there are 65 guests, we're mailing out a note to guests to notify them of the change of plans. We're having trouble coming up with a "cute" way of announcing the postponement though. There are no samples online either. Any suggestions are welcome! We need help Moms!

The little one just can't wait,
he/she is trying to arrive before the date!
Doc says Mommy must get some rest
so the sweet little baby will be at his/her best.
We don't want the little one to come right now
so we've changed the date for time to allow
this little bundle to be safe and sound,
with lots of joy and love around!

Please be advised we have changed the date for "xxx"s shower as the doctor has put her on bed rest. It is unsafe for her to travel at this time. We hope that you can join us in the celebration of life for baby "xxxx" on (date) when he/she is ready to meet you!

What about something like "we'd rather have a special delivery than an early delivery, so we'll have to wait to celebrate!" join us on DATE when mom and baby can be here together.

"Our sweet little guest of honor doesn't want to be confined to Mommy's tummy for the baby shower, like mom is confined to bed right now. So to make our new little one happy we've decided to change the date until after his arrival so we can all oooh and aaaah in person."

Some how you might want to mention that mom and baby are doing well (and hopefully they are!) so that you don't get 65 phone calls once the change of date goes out. :)

I really like Tori's idea. Or just "Looks Like We'll Have to Wait to Celebrate!" I'd be sure to add a sentence or two in plain English about Sally needing the bed rest and the postponement until XYZ at ABC o'clock and restate the location (in case it's changed too).

I had a friend that this happened to. We set up a video camera, had the shower and video taped well wishes and antidotes. The gifts were gathered up and the hostess went on a road trip (you can chose someone close to the mom to be) and delivered all the goodies.
The video camera was then set up again for mom to watch the first part and then while she opened gifts and munched on left over cake. She had her oohs and ahhs on camera, her thank yous, etc. The video was downloaded to CD's and sent to all the guests. Great responses from everyone.
It worked out very well. While the ideal is for everyone to celebrate in person, sometimes that isn't a possibility. Ask the mom what she'd like to do. Take all the ideas you get and give them to her to decide. Go from there.
FYI, I like the note directly below mine from Mary Anne P - cute!
