We are new to the Cypress area from out of state. Does anyone know anything about Postma or Birkes elementary school. Not sure which one my 2nd grader will be attending. Also looking for weekend activity ideas for my 2 girls in the Cypress or Katy area.
I am a teacher in the district, and both Postma and Birkes are excellent schools!

My grandson attended Postma this last year for kindergarten. He did very well, and I was impressed by the professionalism and ability of his teacher. She was a middle-aged lady and had "seen it all before". When he started school--his first all-day experience--he was rather unruly, but his teacher kept up communication with his parents, and gradually, he adapted. He ended the year a happy and healthy soon-to-be-first-grader! (His family moved this summer, so he will not be back at Postma in the fall. The thought of a new school is a little scarey for him, I think.)

Welcome to town! I don't know about those schools (I'm in Klien ISD), but there is a GREAT site about family fun in your area. It was a great resource for me when I moved here a few years ago, and the website has grown ALOT! It's www.ninaloca.com . Check it out, a mom in the area started it and now it's a huge resource. Lot's of great info about the NW areas of town.

My children went to Birkes for the past 6 years and it is one of the best in the distict for sure!! Postma opened a few years ago and has earned a great reputation as well. This is a great area to live in!
I have experience with both schools. We started at Birkes and now attend Postma. Both are excellent schools. We feel that our daughters have recieved an excellent education at both schools. Hope you end up at Postma. There are tons of things to do in this area, and because of 290, and Beltway 8, everything is within reach. What do your children like to do?
Welcome to Cy-Fair! There are some great things to do out here! The Harris County Public Library is located inside Cy-Fair College. It is on Barker Cypress and (I think) West Road...it's across from the Berry Center. It is great!! They have activities that go on all the time and a wonderful children's library. Another fun thing is the Ruckus Room. It is on Huffmeister. It is a bounce place. It is super clean and the guy who owns it is really nice. There is a great YMCA on Longenbaugh.
I don't know much about those elementary schools. My son will be starting at Horne in the fall for Kindergarten. How these suggestions help!
