I am wanting to get portraits made of my almost 4 month old. I have no expierence with anyone locally and would love suggestions! Location isn't a big deal. I'm not wanting to spend a ton of money but don't mind spending more if the session is worth the extra money! I'm open to anyplace (jc penney, sears, private, etc.). Thank you so much for your help!
We ended up going to Moto Photo in Broken Arrow and had a great expierence. It was nice to be able to walk into their studio and be the only people there! We did not feel rushed and waas able to pick from a huge assortment of backgrounds. I was a little dissapointed in their picture packages (it went from too little pictures in a package to way to many!). The staff was very friendly and overall it was an enjoyable expierence. I don't think I'll spend that amount of money everytime I want her portriats made but I'll certainly go back for special occiasion photos! Thank you all for your responses!

If you are in Tulsa, Moto Photo does a great job and you can get a membership and get special deals throughout the year and I think coupons. At Easter, They have live bunnies. Pretty cute, but not all kids like them. But they are great with the kids. Penneys does a good job also. You can often find coupons in the paper for them.
The picture people in woodland hills mall did excellent pictures with my daughter. She's 3 and able to pose though. For a place that's inexpensive with alot of props to pick from for your daughter's age go to JCPennys!! I've always got them there and they are great. You can normally find coupons (online at their website, parenting magazines, etc) it's 3.99 a sheet. One sheet can either be 1- 8x10 or 1-10x13, 1- 1 5x7, 4 billfolds and 4 wallets, 1-2 31/2 x 5s, 1- 8 wallets. It's a great deal and they do excellent work. I do suggest during the week if possible, the one at promenade won't turn people down on the weekends and sometimes you'll wait for an hour to get your pics taken.

I have had really good luck with JC Penneys. I have found though that you have to be bossy! I looked a of studio pics online to get ideas and then kind of did the posing of my son on my own. They didn't seem to mind my bossiness!!!! Also if you think you will be going a couple of times a year it pays to join their club.
PS They have coupons on line. I never go with out a coupon!
I have a friend who is a teacher full time and takes pictures on the side for some extra income. Her fee is $100 for two hours. That also covers developing the proofs and CD. Then you can load the CD and get what you want at Wal-Mart for a much cheaper price. A lot of private photographers you have to use them to print your pictures. She is really good, I had no compaints and she took pictures of my two and captured some really neat photos. Send me an email if you are interested

I'm not for sure where you live, but my husband and I have always used sears...We have also tried jcpenney, and their ok, but we love sears...we always plan so much, but end up spending more because the pictures are so good....But it might just be the photographers or could be our girls..just a little bit prejudiced...

I know that everyone always has a different experience but we (and many of our friends) have had great success at JC Penney's Portrait Studios. The trick with not spending a lot of money with them is to not get suckered into buying a package. It will leave you with so many pictures (which may be adorable) but of which you don't know what to do with them in the long run. We made this mistake the first time we took pictures there.
Since then we usually use the coupons that you can find in just about any Parenting magazine. The coupon makes the sitting free and then allows you to buy each sheet of whatever picture you chose for only $4 each. We actually just had new family pictures taken today. We spent $34 and that got us 9 sheets, 26 pictures total (of all sizes and several different poses). If you play your cards right you can spend a small amount of money or you can buy a package and spend well over $100.
I have had great pictures with Picture People at the mall... they send out free coupons all the time. I also have a good friend who lives in KC area and does awesome photography and she is planning a trip to Tulsa in May. Several moms I know are scheduling with her and the parks and Azalea bushes are amazing at Woodward that time of year.
