Where to Get Family Portrait Done?

I'd like to get a family portrait done. I want to have pictures of my kids with my brother's son taken for my parents and then portraits of just the family and just his family. I really would like something nice and professional but don't want to spend $300 on photos.
I'm in Jersey City and my brother is in Queens. So I guess any where in between would work for us. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

We got the BEST family portraits at JC Penny. I know it seems like they would be cheap, but the photographer was creative, took a million different poses, and we got the best pictures we have ever had. Because it's around the holidays, they should be offering deals right about now.

Google local wedding photographers and start calling. Many do a special "family" package where you own the prints/disc, etc at the end. If you can do something "off season" or on a week day, you will get a better deal.

We've always had good luck with Sears and JC Penney too. Independent photographers will run you upwards of $300, so consider a chain.

I would also ask on fb to find local just starting out photographers. They usually wont charge as much as an established photographer.

Do you have a portrait innovations? They are no sitting fees and they have a deal that is $10 for X pictures. if you want more poses you can get more. I think we paid about $100 but we got several poses and we got the CD. my only compliant about the CD was that you could only get 4X6 created from them.

We have done all out milestone and family pictures at Target. They have done a phenomenal job each time. I cannot even begin to complain. Only one time have we spent close to 50 dollars and that included a 11x14, at least 2 8x10s and a bunch of 5x7s. They really do have great deals like no sitting fees, holiday packages, low costs per sheet, etc.

My one piece of advice, if this is going to be for a holiday pic, I would try to select the earliest appointment of the day. They tend to get backed up when their online scheduling permits only 10 mins. between sittings. The minute one appointment runs over, the rest of them are done for! Best of luck!

We do all of our pictures at JC Penny. If you go to the portraits section of their website, you can look for their coupon deals. I just printed one off the other day for a $7.99 portrait package (one 8x10, two 5x7, four 3.5x5, & 16 wallets of one pose), but they have a LOT of different coupons.
