Thinking about doing a POP-STAR theme b-day party for my 6 year old daughter. I have a karaoke machine with Hannah Montana and Radio Disney CDs. Any suggestions on some other fun stuff to do?

As a craft you can make microphones out of a toliet paper roll. Also you can do a mini-popstar make over. Put a little makeup, lip gloss, and some teased hair and there you go. you could use the hair color if you want. It washes out very easily. If you do that you can paint finger nails too. It sounds like she will have a great time.

D.,
Check out the March issue of Family Fun magazine: article "A Rockin' Good Time". They have a whole party planned for you (craft, games, cake...) and right up your alley.

My Kids have a Hannah Montanna board game that comes in a case that is shaped like a guitar. It comes with a cd that you respond to when you step on a certain star on the board. They absolutely love it because it get them up and moving and really interacting with one another. You could probably find it at walmart, but if not, try hastings/barnes noble/joseph beth. Have some wigs and pop star clothing (also available at walmart) in which they can strut their stuff! Good Luck and Have Fun! susan

I was going to tell you about the Family Fun magazine article too, but I see someone else has mentioned it. The article had some really great ideas. Good luck! I hope it's a great party for your daughter!

The March issue of Family Fun Magazine included an article on Birthday Parties That Rock. One of the party suggestions was a rock star party. They had some good suggestions for games, crafts and entertainment. You can try to access the article on their website at FamilyFun.com. Hope you have a rockin' good time at your party.

Hi~
I'm an old 'mom' (51) to 4 adults and grandma to 3 (ages 1-6) and the first thing that came to mind was to keep the karaoke session all-inclusive, at least for a while. Kids nowadays are SO difficult to 'manage' (in my experienced opinion). They need to learn to sit through some things even if it's not fully entertaining to them, so I'd say, 'Now we're going to karaoke! Everyone sit in a circle on the floor.' (or however you set it up. Probably sitting on the floor would work best (unless you have an actual raised 'stage' area). My thought is that if you have karaoke as an 'option' while other things are going on, you'll have mayhem. Maybe get a white bedsheet at Goodwill (or other thrift shop) and put it on the floor with plastic underneath (maybe even in the garage if you have one) and let them paint it as a backdrop first or something.

Have fun!

For my daughter's 6th birthday, we did a similar theme but did more of the glamour angle on it. The thing that was the biggest hit with the girls (all 13 of them)was the papparazzi fashion runway.
I filled a box with hats, sunglasses, scarves, big jewelery and other accessories and rolled out a long piece of orange velvet fabric remnant for a runway. Each girl got to dress up with whatever her heart desired from the dress-up box and walk the runway with cool music playing and everyone snapping photos as they posed. Then I shared the photos with the girls as a thank you for coming to the party.

I did this for my daughter's 4th birthday. I had on the invitations to wear your "pop star" best and all the little girls were dressed just like Hannah Montana! I also paid my babysitter to come and help do punk rock hair, nails and make up. You can get glitter hair spray at Sally's and funky nail polish colors. They all loved it and I have great pics from it!

Don't forget the makeup and dress up clothes!!! My daughter recently went to a party where they brought in a Miley look alike and the company brought in a lot of dressup clothes for the girls to put on and they did a little make-up on them and then they took individual pictures of them , it was a lot of fun-my daughter loved it!!! You might want to go to some thrift stores or consignment shops and find the dress up stuff and wash it and it will be good to go!!
