It depends on the type. Some are VERY contagious, some aren't contagious at all. Your doc should be able to tell you based on the type what the contagion risk is.

No. I've had it a few times, If you get it often, consider getting the new vaccine. I haven't had it since I got the vaccine, 7 years ago.

My 6 y/o has had pneumonia numerous times and I do believe, at least once, I caught it from him. But I think it depends if it is viral or bacterial. Just be careful and treat it like any cold or virus and try to limit her exposure. Wash hands a lot, etc. Feel better soon!

Like B said...it depends on the type of pneumonia that it can be contagious. Typically it is hard to catch...but it is possible. Speads through coughing/sneezing/ etc. just like a cold/flu. So your daughter is susceptible if you have it but more than likely she will wind up with a cold. Hope she doesn't get it. Pneumonia is nasty. My daughter is 4 and has had it and it's scary. Get well soon.

I agree with the other ladies...it does depend on the type you have! I would suggest confirming with your doctor what type it is.....community aquired, bacteria, aspiration just to name a few. Then you can also confirm if it is contagious. Hand washing will really help reduce the risks though! Hope you feel better soon.

Maybe. It depends on what caused your pneumonia and whether you are contagious or not. It also depends on how strong your daughters immune system is. Vaccines to prevent certain types of pneumonia are available.
