Please Tell Me It Turns Out Okay

Hello, I am just writing because I am scared. I have been researching and checking out library books to see if anyone has the problem that I do. I have turned up nothing. My problem started when I stopped taking my birth control Pill (Errin) I was put on this pill because the pills with estrogen in them gave me major Migraine headaches. Anyways I got off the pill because I finally got up the courage to talk to my husband about expanding our family. To my absolute delight he said he was thinking the same thing. Well ever since I got off the pill (6 mo. and counting) I have been bleeding all but maybe 5 weeks. I have been taking my BBT everyday and of course the temp remains very low with no indication of ovulation. I know I have to go to the Dr and I have my yearly check up next month. (pretty much have to make an appt. 4 months in advance) I am just having a real hard time. I want another baby so so bad and all I do is think about it everyday of every minute. I have done everything from gaining a few pounds to not working out as much to eating only fertility boosting foods (found in many books) and to cutting almost all caffeine out of my diet. I just don't know what else to do. My heart breaks every morning I wake up and see that it hasn't stopped. I'm sorry I just need to get it out I guess.

What can I do next?

K.,
Go to the doctor right away. You should not be bleeding like this. You may just need a D&C,(which I refer to as a dusting and cleaning). Then, you will be in shape to have a pregnancy. But the bleeding is excessive and waiting is not a good idea. That alone can be playing havoc with your hormones, etc. Enjoy your family that you have right now and the rest will follow. But please call your doctor and tell them what has been going on, they will get you in right away. I will be praying for you.

It's good that you are going to see your physician because bleeding all the time is not normal. I too had the problem of conceiving the second child. I'm a nurse and I work with physicians every day. So, I mentioned my concern to one of my physician friends and he said the most profound thing. He said, you're trying to hard. Relax. Forget about it. Take your husband on a nice relaxing weekend vacation. Drink some wine and enjoy yourself. I thought he was nuts but I tried it. Amazingly, I conceived on that very weekend and had a beautiful little boy who is now a strapping 30 year old. Relax. Don't try so hard. Enjoy your husband and the love he provides you. You might be surprised at the results.
Good luck.

Hi K.,
I'm sorry you're going through this. I highly recommend going to the doctor (obgyn) sooner than your appt. next month. If your current doctor will not fit you in for this urgent matter, then I would find a new doctor. If it's an insurance issue, you can call the insurance company and tell them you are having an urgent medical problem and your primary will not see you right away and you need to switch doctors immediately. I recommend calling other doctors before you call the insurance to see who is willing to see you. There is no reason this should be put off. It could be a number of things and they need to see you so you can be diagnosed and treated - maybe it's even something simple. I'm guessing it has to do with going off of that pill. Be persistent and find a doctor that is willing to work with and for you. They get paid very well so you shouldn't feel you have to wait. Hang in there and keep us posted. K.

I agree with the others mamas out there. Get to the doctor right away to discuss this issue. They should take you right away for an issue like this. With all of you bleeding make sure you are getting a lot of iron in your diet. My sister is going through this too. My biggest advice is to try not to obsess about the issue, relax, and talk to the doctor. I know not obsessing can be a hard thing (I do the same thing), but try and find something to pass time to take your mind of of things... work out, scrapbook, paint a picture, read a really good book (I will recommend Twilight by Stephanie Meyer). I wish you all the best!

I second a lot of the advice that you got here. First of all, things will work out just fine. You're going to see your doctor next month and the doc will be able to give you specific information to act upon. In the meantime, take a deep breath and relax. Nothing is going to happen when you are stressed out. Don't stop exercising. Do eat healthy. Do cut out the caffeine. It's important that your body be in its best shape to get pregnant. This will all work out and soon you'll be celebrating the arrival of a new little. Have faith and be positive. In the meantime, relax and enjoy the blessings you have in your husband and child. Good luck!

I know what you're going through. I was determined to make a honeymoon baby. I didn't realize how difficult it was to get pregnant. I tried everything. I was on the pill for so many years and I wonder if it took so long to get out of my system. But I really did torture myself and my husband about it every month for 9 months. It was awful. I thought something was wrong with me. I wanted to be pregnant so bad. I did the ovulation monitor, the ovulation kits, charting my temperature, taking supplements. It was crazy. But during my ninth month of trying, I put the thermometer away, the packed up the fertility monitor and told myself I needed a break form all this madness, and of course I get pg the very next month. Crazy, huh? But I can totally empathize with you. This pregnancy was a total surprise because I was still breastfeeding and co-sleeping wth my daughter. But I think it was a sign from God not to go through that craziness again. Good luck, and yes it'll happen for you. Keep us posted =)

I just had an 8 week bleeding spell from May 5 to July 5 so I totally understand! I haven't had a period since then. I really want another child too. I just went to my second dr for another opinion and they all want to put me on birth control pills. I am ready to go back to the homeopath. When I was bleeding for 8 wks, the dr kept trying various hormones and nothing would work and the birth control pills made me SO sick! I finally went to a homeopath and she gave me cinnamon drops and it worked almost immediately to stop the bleeding. She also gave me Vitex. Check out the PCOS websites to see if you have PCOS too. Also, research progesterone cream. I have a 6 and 3 yr old and although I could force the hand with meds, I've decided that perhaps my body is just not ready for another child yet. Let me know how it goes. I know exactly what you are going through. My 6 y.o prays for a sister every night and is getting quite frustrated.

Hey K. -

First, call your ob/gyn - explain the situation, and I'm sure they'll get you in! Remember that they have to have openings for the pregnant women who come in on a weekly basis!

Second, don't stress so much about getting pregnant! Sometimes it's that pressure that keeps you from conceiving - I've seen time and time again that when you just let it happen, it'll happen much quicker and easier :o)

Good luck!

The key thing is getting in to see your doctor. You mentioned you have your annual exam next month, but did you mention to them that you have been bleeding for about five months? Perhaps if they knew this they would have or could still get you in much sooner. This just seems like a matter that I would want checked out right away. I wish you all the best. Hang in there and take care.

I have worked for an OB Gyn for years. While it is probably nothing big, you should go to one ASAP and not wait for your yearly. They will see you for bleeding as soon as they can and if they cannot get you in within the week. I would look for new Dr. This way you can prevent whatever is going on from getting worse and to just get peace of mind which if you don't have can keep you from getting pregnant too! Have you had your Iron checked to see if you are anemic, chronic bleeding can lead to being anemic and also can keep you from getting pregnant. Remember I am not a doctor and information like this I would take staight to a doctor. Wishing you the best!

Reading your post brought back memories of how difficult and emotional TTC was for me. It sounds like you are on the right path by having an appointment scheduled with your doctor. Hopefully, he/she can easily identify and resolve any problem with fertility that you are experiencing. In the meantime, you may find support by looking into Resolve, the National Infertility Association, www.resolve.org. I found them to be a tremendous support during the time that I was TTC and even beyond. I feel for you and I remember the heartbreak every time my period arrived. So many people take such different journeys, but for what it's worth, I ended up having 3 wonderful children and they have made all of the trials to have them worth it.

HI K.,
Try acufinder.com. A good and reputable acupuncturist who specializes in fertility will also help get your body back on track. Try not to obsess about another child-you will only make yourself upset. Look into adoption. Sometimes the focus helps take your mind off your own fertility problems. Best of luck to you:)

It will turn out OK! I'm sure your body is trying to get on track and you may need to really try to be patient and put your focus elsewhere for a while so you don't get too upset. I would suggest some acupuncture to help the energy to start to move correctly in your uterus area/ energy channels. It will also help with the stress and promote overall well-being which is important for conceiving a new life form.
many blessings your way.

K.,

I don't know about the bleeding, but I recommend you RELAX!! The more you stress and obsess about getting pregnant, the more your body will fight it. I know it's hard, but really try. Continue to eat well, take prenatals, practicing the perfect "conception", and then just adopt a "whenever it happens, it'll be great" attitude. I think if you're able to just let it happen rather than making it happen, it will come easier. Good luck to you.

K., I have to say that your priorities seem way off base. The fact that you had to "get up the courage" to talk to your husband about having another baby seems very odd to me. In a marriage where there is true intimacy, both partners are familiar with their spouses views on such things at any given time. That comment concerned me almost as much as your statement that you think about your lack of conception every minute of every day. Where does that leave the child you already have? Last of all, you have been experiencing an unnatural degree of bleeding for nearly 6 months, but you have not been to the doctor about it. It seems to me that your focus is on the wrong things. Go to the doctor now, work on increasing the intimacy and communication in your marriage, focus on the child you have instead of the one you do not have, and your chances of conceiving will go way up.

Sweetheart,

It will be ok.. You will get pregnant again and things will be alright. I have a friend that went though the same problem, she had to go to her dr. of course and find out why she wasn't uvulating and stuff. It all worked out for her and a few months later she got pregnant with her 3rd and she was only 30 years old too.

I would say go see your dr. and relax. I personally used an ovulation monitor kit I bought at a store and it worked wonders for me, on the first try I got pregnant and I was 38..

Take Care

Try going to a chiropractor.

I once had a similar problem and the doctor told me I needed a hysterectomy and that I would never have children. I was eighteen at the time.
I told him he was insane never went back and found myself a chiropractor.

After the second adjustment my periods were back to normal.
I have two healthy adult children.

hi dear. you didn't mention your age?

i only ask because could you be in menopause already? i started having all the symptoms at 43 (my mom at 38). but since i was taking the pill i didn't not realize that it was masking the fact that ... i was already in it!

that is, i was still having regular periods (because that's what the pill makes you do). but i also started having the killer migraines every month.

after 3 years of battling it i finally took myself off the pill, off the migraine meds, and off the other dumb meds like serafem that the doc said would make me feel better.

once i did that - voila - no more periods, no more migraines, i was "cured" because i found out i was post-menopausal. did blood work that confirmed it.

so now i'm 47 and haven't had my period in 1 1/2 years. unfortunately for you that means you might not be having any more babies naturally. please have your bloodwork done and see if your moving in that direction.

also remember, there are plenty of children right here in our own country literally "dying" to be adopted if you look in that direction. plese consider that before flying 7,000 miles away to take a child from somewhere else.
tx for listening.

It sounds like your cycle needs to get back on track. It will all happen with Gods perfect timing. I know His timing is not always ours, but just trust. I wanted another baby soooo bad, it me a 1 1/2 years to concieve, and looking back, it was the perfect timing. Be patient. We were ready to give up and get a puppy!

Please go to your OB right away, you need to get the bleeding under control first - that needs to be your first concern right now.

Regarding getting pregnant again, try to calm yourself and know that it will happen, but you need to not even worry about trying or anything until you get your cycle straighted out. May be that they need to put you on another pill for a month or two to get you regulated.

Also, I don't want to scare you, but I do want to urge you to get into the doctor right away, constant bleeding like that can be a symptom of larger issues - just get yourself in right away and get checked out.
