I have a 4 1/2 month old baby girl and am planning to put her at the WOODSMILL LEARNING CENTER on Woodsmill Road, just before the intersection on Olive. If anyone has any prior experience with this day care please let me know. This is going to be my first experience with a day care and I am going through a lot of mixed feelings. Thanks for your help.

A.,
Ask the director if she can give you some names of other parents whose children are at the center, and give them a call. I did that for one day care and it was really reassuring. Good luck, and trust your instinct. If it does not feel right for you, keep looking. Also, you can go to the MO state liscensing office in St. Louis and look at their records to see of any violations, charges, etc. It is free and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone seeking daycare.

I had my son in the infant room there and I took him out after a few months. They are nice but not very contentious. My husband walked in several times without anyone ever talking to him. Zach was often sick and I just do not think he thrived there. I would recommend going arond the corner to the one just off of Woods Mill. I can't remember the name. It is across the street from the other entrance to Four Seasons Neighboorhood. Good Luck.

I loved WLC because the director is great. She is an older woman, but she knows education! My daughter was VERY prepared for kindergarten. She loved it there! I don't know much about the infant room, because my girl was 4 when we started.

I don't know about this particular daycare, but with daycare centers in general, I've always felt, the more eyes the better. When my son started daycare at 8 weeks, I felt much better knowing he was in a place with lots of other adults, cameras, etc. since he couldn't speak for himself to tell me what happened to him during the day. I never felt that I knew an individual well enough to leave him in someone's care in their home.
A good daycare center will encourage unannouced visits and lots of questions!
Good luck :-)
