I am a SAHM in Eagan, and would love to talk with you about watching your child. I have a 3 yr 4 mth old, and a 14 mth old. Send M. a pm, and we can talk more!
I had posted a question earlier about daycare facilities and got great responses as always. This is specifically for day care facilities in my area - Eagan , MN. Please let me know if you have any recommendations in Eagan for infants.Does anyone recommend YMCA in Eagan?
Also many moms suggested hiring a nanny. Seems like a really good idea but my worry is since both my husband and I will be out all day, how do we know if the nanny is actually at home taking care of the baby? I know I need to find somebody I really trust but I don't know how easy that is. I will be able to go home in the afternoons during summer months but obviously it won't be possible in winter.
Thanks in advance!

I currently have mine in Day by Day child development center in Eagan. I am very happy. I love the family feel. The director is always on sight and is very approachable. She will work with you on any problem or situation. They just remodeled and it looks really nice. I love love the baby room teacher. She is so genuine and you can tell she really cares about the babies. I have only had my children in one other center, so compared to the old center this is amazing. You should stop by and check them out.
We have also had good luck at the SW YMCA. My son started there when he was 4 mos. and is now transitioning from a toddler to preschool room.
I was also concerned about teacher turnover but many of the lead and assistant teachers have been there for years, the turnover is more common with the aides.
Someone mentioned the swimming, which has been great. There are also music classes, which my son LOVES.
Good Luck in your search!
My daughter was at the YMCA in Eagan from 12 weeks up until Kindergarten. She liked it very much. We were very happy with the care and attention she got. She also had the advantage of swimming sessions starting at six months of age. She also loved the interaction with other kids. At the older ages they did many "preschool" activities and she was very ready for Kindergarten. I recommend it.
A nanny can be great if you work long hours (and make a lot of money), some of my friends have done this. It will be more expensive and more bother because you then have an "employee" for tax purposes, if they are sick you have to have a backup, if they leave you and your kids start over with a new person.
I do home daycare in Eagan off Hwy 3 and Diffley Rd, I do have an opening for an infant, when are you looking to start care? I know lot's of providers in the area as well, I would be happy to help you find a provider near you if I'm not. I highly recommend going with an in home daycare. I have experience with centers and the turn over rate for teachers is usually very high. I have also been a nanny, but you may find that can get expensive, if you can afford it and find the right person that would be great. Please feel free to call M. at ###-###-#### L.
We love the SW Area YMCA. We have one there now in the pre-K age group. Prior to this, he went to an in-home daycare (near wescott & lexington) run by a friend of ours (and mother of our oldest son's friend). I highly recommend both. Never used YMCA for infant or toddler care so I can't say how those rooms work. I can tell you cost for 4 & 5 yr olds at YMCA is now $216/week -- Probably more for littler ones. We got on the waiting list in spring 2008 and got a spot in late August. Plus...I think they give wait list preference to employees at Thompson Reuters. I think the only minus I would give the Y is their recent move to outsourcing meals. They used to prepare breakfast/lunch in-house and now it is quasi-"catered".
Let M. know if you would like to learn more about the au pair/live in nanny program I mentioned on my previous response. I can also refer you to families in your area that currently use an au pair through our program so you can ask questions and get their perspective on this type of child care.
