After the hurricane hit I had left and went to corpus where my husband is working because we had no electric at home but before we left I did clean up the house and got rid of all the food but for some reason we have gnat REALLY bad, I have tried the sticky tape u buy at the store, and also sprayed but I can't keep spraying because I have a 22 month old. Is there any other safe way to get rid of them. PLEASE HELP

What can I do next?

Been there...try and identify WHERE they are coming from...its usualy from the drains. Take some time and wipe all surfaces with some sort of cleaner...409, vinegar solution, whatever makes you happy. THEN, be sure that ALL your drains are cleaned. I found that 1/4-1/2 cup of bleach,in the drains, everynight works. I would just pour for a few nights until they were gone. I will have to say that we live in Galveston County and the bug population in general seems to be worse than ever.

HTH,
Margaret:)
P.S. Also, dont forget to always make sure to run your disposal if you have one!!!!

I had the same problem. I finally resorted to fly swatting with something wet. I eventually got rid of them. The sticky stuff worked on some and the spray didn't seem to work much at all. I began to get so frustrated, I started swatting them. I realized (with wet hands) that I could get them easier with something wet. Ha.

Fill a coffee cup half full of cider vinegar and add 2 or 3 drops of liquid dish soap and leave sitting out. They are supposed to be attracted to it and drown.

I've found that 50/50 Pine Sol & Water kills about every thing. Ants, fly, gnats, moths... And disinfects as you go. Cheap too. I stood at my windows killing gnats without lights for days. Screens don't keep them out.

They are probably in your house plants. Stick the plants outside for a day or two. The gnats should go away.

Also, you should bag up all of your produce that you throw away like banana peels, apple cores, etc. I found out that my gnat problem was coming from my sponge! The lil turds were living in there! I bagged it up and tossed it outside. I never saw anymore after that.
