Playground Fence?

I'm getting a playground for my daughter for her 2nd birthday, the adventure sunchaser swing set. It's going to be at my parent's house in their backyard... they have a dog, an older dog, so I'm going to get a 1' picket fence... I found one the problem is, I need a gate so we can go in and out. I could always keep 2 sections of the fence out so we can go in and out and keep an eye on the dog (don't want the dog to poop or pee in the wood chips in the play area) but I wanted to ask, do any moms know a low-cost gate that could go with a picket fence that's 9.25" tall? or a website that sells a kit that includes a gate?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I wish their dog was like that sara but she doesn't like to get her paws wet at alll so now she poops over where the playground is going... I have no doubt she still will either go out of habit or cuz it will be a dry area in the morning dew time.

Nancy, that's very true I'm not worried about us per say, I want my daughter to be able to get over it or in it without struggle, she's 2' 9" tall herself (33" as the doc said) although her bdays not until nov 2 (I'm in the planning stage right now) so she'll be taller then. I was worried she wouldn't be able to get over easily. Spray stuff? what do you spray? That is very interesting.

Lol Retta, my daughter does too. Complicated things, like climbing over stuff she doesn't fall, rather backwards...she's funny.

I would be concerned about her tripping and falling on the fence, is it only one foot high. Of course my daughter trips over her own feet all the time.

Just leaving a section of the fence out is easiest. You can spray stuff in the play yard or just by the opening to discourage the dog from using it as a toilet, and he'll learn to stay out. If the fence is only 9 inches high, you should be able to just step over it without a gate.

any fence company can sell you the gate.. you need to order it via phone.. so you can talk to them and let them know what you need.... good luck

You might want to check online re. do it yourself project. If someone has tools - a neighbor perhaps, you might be able to cut a section, attach hinges and a lock and you have your gate without spending too much extra. Or perhaps the place you're purchasing the fence from could cut a section for you? Good luck!

All you need is some hinges and a latch for a gate.
Ask at home depot or your nearest lumber supply store. Bring your meaurements and specifications with you. They can tell you exactly what you need. It's super easy. My husband and I built a fence around our yard with a gate and enclosed our front porch by ourselves.
It's not that hard really.
I wouldn't worry about the dog using the playground as a potty place. But, keep in mind, a picket fence won't keep cats out if you have any running around the neighborhood.

Best wishes!

we have a dog and she's never gone over to poop or pee in the wood chips on our daughter's play area.
