Play Yard or Pen for Kids

Hi- We have little kids and a dog. We'd like to put up a fence of sorts to prevent the dog from toileting near the kids' play area. We'd like to section off a large space (within it would be 2 little slides, a sandbox, and one of those houses). My husband is resistant to installing a fence, so I figured something temporary would do the job. Any suggestions? I only see pens to keep pets IN.

What can I do next?

another easy temporary solution is a dog tether. This is basically a giant corkscrew you twist into the lawn. The dog gets a long lead and has free reign within a set radius. try to get one with a tangle free system.

I don't know if your layout allows for this, but when it comes time to remove, all you've got is a tiny, tiny hole in your lawn.

There is def benefit to keeping a clean play area for your little ones. You might check someplace like Lowes or Home depot and see what ideas they may have. They do carry things like low fences that you just pound into the ground and do have to anchor or dig holes for.

it would probably be easier to install a dog run for the pets rather a fence to keep them out. I think it would be easier and less expensive they have dog runs at any hardware store. Or maybe just put a fence with a gate down half the yard and give the dog one side and the kids the other

get some fencing and fence in the back of your yard. you won't feel like you have lost a lot of yard (maybe 4 feet all the way across) but your dog gets a good long space to run / play / poop in. and you avoid the yucky shoes coming in with dog poop on them not to mention kids getting in it and the germs nastiness of it.

One Step Ahead had a product like a baby gate but with many sections so you could configure any shape you wanted. Don't know if they still make it, but it might be something to look into.

We fenced our garden in pretty cheap. Your local Lowes, Home Depot whatever, will carry green metals posts, you can buy them in various heights - pick one tall enough and estimate that about 1ft of it will need to be in the ground. Then buy rolls of poultry netting, cheap fence, but it will do the job to keep the dog out. Get the posts 1ft taller than the fence Ex. If you want 3ft fence, then buy 4ft poles to go with. Attach fence to posts with those plastic zip ties. Not sure what to do for the gate though - we made our own wood frame and then attached the poultry netting to it with a staple gun.
