Any suggestions on how to get play-doh out of the carpet? I've tried resolve and it helped a bit, but now the carpet is a nice pink color.

What can I do next?

I've heard WD-40 will work. It's just fish oil. Then maybe you could use Dawn afterward, just to keep the oil part from settling in. ??

I have used a product called Solumeal to get out paint, bubble gum, permanent markers, tar, and even playdough. You can only get it from a members only catologe company, but it is the only product that I have found that really works and on top of that it is safe enough for the children to use when the make a mess. I have shopped with this company for over three years and I could not live without their products. Just e-mail me direct if you have a cleaning or health problem and I will try to point you to a good place to buy them and how to use the products. I do not sell anything I just use these products!!!

Email the play-doh company and ask them. They may have cleaning tips on their website as well.

I'm not sure but would it respond to cold like bubble gum does. What I mean is to rub the carpet stain with ice and see if you can tease out the frozen bits of play doh.

I would also advise googling for 'Play Doh' and carpet stain. I bet the company has a web site with either a faq section or just the answer you are looking for. :)

Hi there,

I agree, next time let the play dough dry then it's very easy to get out. How about trying OXY clean? They have a laundry spray now that you may be able to use on the carpet. Look in the cleaning aisle and see what other OXY clean products they have. It gets out lots of stuff others don't.
Good luck, I've been there!
Merry Christmas!

Let it dry, then scrap a popcicle stick across it and vaccum. Every bit will come up. If you have already gotten it wet the color might have bleed out of the playdough and onto your carpet. If this si what has happened the only thing that I know of that will take it out is the apulstry cleaner that you get at rooms-to-go. It is free for life if you have ever purchased furnature from then, but you might be able to nuy it from them if you have not purchased anything from them. It comes in a small 8 oz bottle I think. It will take stains out of EVERYTHING. Good luck.

Unfortunately once you get it wet it bleeds, we have experienced from a Playdoh "pizza". I had some success with putting a thin cloth (like a cloth diaper) and ironing on top. We also used regular copy paper, you keep doing it until the color and remaining Doh come off. The the stain then use a high quality carpet cleaner. Spot Shot worked for us. Oxy Clean is good, but don't overclean because the stain will end up lighter.

Best of luck ..

Be careful about mixing different solvents/chemical together. One product on its own might not bleach your carpet, but different products together may create an unexpected result... Try and rinse out the resolve as much as possible with plain water before adding another product.
