Academically it is a good school. We were going to send our daughter there but we liked the academic options at Plano Senior better. Most of my daughter's friends that went to West have transferred to Plano Senior due to social issues of not being accepted or picked on, parties, sex. I believe all schools have issues to be dealt with but as a parent it is up to us to give our kids the knowledge to handle all situations. In my opinion they both have sex and drugs, quite common in most high schools. Our daughter is happy at Plano Senior, she is on yearbook, an officer in spanish club, loves having zero hour to go to school early and get out early, off campus lunch, great honors classes, lots of fun academic clubs etc. Our daughter loves the open layout of Plano Senior due to West's layout was the same as Jasper H.S. They treat them more like college students at Plano Senior. In the end...let your child see what options each have and see what they think afterall its them attending the school; we want them to be happy and not miserable. After we reviewed everything, we both liked Plano Senior better; they have a new principal and our daughter is very happy.
