J.K.
I can't figure out Pinterest. I have an account too but weird things like that happen all the time with me so I hardly ever get on. I like to read all the recipes from Pinterest that people post on Facebook.
I know, I know, first world problems, but it annoys me.
It seems like every other time I log onto Pinterest some random person shows up on my Home page which means I'm following them. I go to their folder and unfollow it, but why does this happen in the first place? There's no rhyme or reason to it; there've been architecture, kids stuff, art, etc etc. anyone know why it happens and how to stop it?
ETA - No, I am following them - and I never clicked 'follow' on any of these people. It just randomly assigns me to follow different boards.

Do you mean THEY are following you? I don't follow ANYONE (my choice) but I think there are some people out there who follow me. I've never tried to stop them, I guess they just find me *that* interesting LOL!
It happened to me the first few months I was on. I used to unfollow them if I wasn't interested. I believe Pinterest was trying to see what interests I had, because when they email me about once a week with "Pins we think you'll like" it's in the areas I actually am interested in. And I'm not being assigned people to follow anymore, either.
oh I am very sorry, I usually try to read closer than that. I've never had tht happen so it wasn't even on my radar that you were asking that. Wow, i wouldn't like that either, Did you try emailing coustomer service???
i guess i don't mind random people following me so i never bothered to block someone from following me.
how it's happening is because everything you click on is public access to anyone so if you PIN it someone one else can come PIN it too, and if they see you have 3 PINS that they like, they can choose to follow you because they are working on the assumption that you find good pins that they would like to find too, and its easier to share with you than both of you spending your time looking and hiding everything and not sharing. atleast that is why i think it is happening.
for example i have a disney trip coming and i can type disney in the search box and get 20 pins, but if i find the right person that has already pinned those 10 of the 20 that are relevant to what i am looking for, i can just follow that person, see all the rest of their pins that might not have come up in that search. I don't have to follow them i could just pin all their pins but if they find something new i might like I"ll be able to see it because i follow them.
clear as mud right?
to avoid it, don't pin anything or pin it to a hidden board.
I don't have Pinterest, but I do have Facebook. Fb keeps posting things from groups and pages on my wall and I have to unlike to get rid of them but I never liked them! So annoying. These sights are getting more and more invasive.
