Pink & Purple Hair

Hi moms! My daughter went to the hair salon with me a couple of days ago and I let my hairdresser put pink and purple color in my daughter's very blonde hair. This woman has been my hairdresser for over 20 years and I trust her so I didn't ask any questions about the hair color. I washed my daughter's hair today with shampoo and added some baking soda but there is still a lot of color in it. I called my hairdresser and she said it would take a few washings to get it out and she told me to use baking soda and I told her I already did. This does not look like it will come out in that few washings. Someone else told me to us Prell shampoo because that would strip hair of anything. I couldn't find it at Walmart and don't even know if they make it any more. Has anyone gone through this and do you have any suggestions how I can get this out of her hair sooner? I know school doesn't start for over another month but I don't want to take any chances! Any help will be greatly appreciated! Also, I have put the Bratz hair color on her hair before and it came out in the first wash so I know this is stronger color. Thanks again!

What can I do next?

If anything else they sale stuff at Sallys beauty supply that will take it out. I used temporay pink hair dye on my bleached blonde hair once and it stuck due to the color. The lighter hair always absorbs it more because it doesnt have the pigment to not.

I just stopped working as a hairstylist to become a SAHM and any salon quality hair color on very blonde hair might be tricky getting out. If it doesn't come out with the other suggestions and you are desparate you can always take her (possibly to a different stylist) to have the pieces only with color on them bleached. Someone who knows what they are doing can watch the hair and rinse it out before any bad damage happens and so it stops at the right shade to match her own true color. Be careful using any Sally's products at home though, you might get in an even stickier situation.

My daughters nickmane is Pinkie, because she use to keep pink hair during the summer. We found SunIn helps to bleach it a little quicker, with out all the harsh chemicals. Dawn dishwashing soap, Vinager and lemons (not at the same time) are also good. If she swims a lot , it will also fade quicker. My perfect student who has never missed a day was sent home, becasue she had just a tint when school started.

You can still get Prell. Many stores carry it but you can also ask your local grocery store to get it for you and they'll have it in a day or so. It is what my husband prefers to use so we get our local store (Brookshire's) to get it for us, 6 at a time.

My youngest daughter had her Aunt put pink colored hair spray in her hair & it took several months to get it all the way out. She is blond too. We used a peroxide & water solution to rinse her hair to lighten it enough for school but it kept a pink tinge for about 4 months. The baking soda didn't budge it with her hair.

We now don't use any type of colored products on her hair. Her school was doing a play and wanted to put black spray on her hair & we said no. Another girl in her 1st grade class that was blond had the black spray in her hair and her mother ended up taking her to a hair salon and having to have her hair lightly bleached to get the muddy brown color out after a 3 weeks of trying other things! Good luck.
