Mamas & Papas -

Can a person actually enlist a so called supernanny to come to your home, observe your parenting, and assist in making parenting/ household changes that benefit the whole family? Can you avail yourself of these services before everything has gone so wrong it makes for good t.v.?

Thanks in advance,
F. B.

Like I posted on the first question, I got a lot from just watching the show. And I think the key is being consistant in whatever discipline you decide to do. =)

Get a true friend from church or so to come and observe you. Don't whine when she tells you the truth. Its cheaper.

Absolutely. There are certified parenting coaches out there who will come to your house and observe your family dynamics and work with you to fix whatever problems you and they observe. My mom's actually a parenting coach and I know there are a lot of people out there who do the same thing. You can do a search online for "parenting coach" and your city to see if there's anyone out there.

Just as easy, invite someone to stay a few days at your house that you are not yet comfortable farting in front of. Swear to god we all parent well when we have an audience. Keep them long enough that your kids have accepted the new rules.

Yes, you can contract with a behavioral therapist who will come to your home and observe/suggest/plan. They are highly effective and if your child has a medical or educational disability, their services are often covered by insurance. Otherwise, the hourly is sky-high!

Definitely not a "first line of defense" kind of thing, but when they are needed... very powerful to have your parenting and interacting "reflected" back to you.
