S.H.
My daughter has always been a good eater. Eats anything or at least will try it. She even likes escargot and "poke" which is a local Hawaiian food made with raw seasoned fish.
My son is the opposite. PICKY.
Fine.
With him we do not force him to eat, nor make it an issue... nor make it a battle. In time, (he is now 4), he has NATURALLY expanded his palate and the foods he eats.
The main thing for us, is that our kids eat for their hunger 'cues' or cues of fullness. Not for emotion or for 'pleasing' us. That is not the best way... to eat... for anyone, as a reason.
My son, although super PICKY... is super healthy, rarely gets sick.... is a tall/big/lean/solid boy. And has always been in the upper 95th-97th percentiles for growth all around.
His picky eating, to us... is not a big deal.
I cook what I cook, and I know there will be something in what I cook that he will eat. He is also a 'grazer'..... and does not eat... a ton... at each sitting. My Husband is the same way. So we don't force him to eat everything on his plate. HE knows, when his tummy is full.
We also don't have 'junk' in the house... so even if my son grazes or snacks.... it is fine. It is healthy. He only eats if hungry... .and at growth-spurts he eats a ton....
all the best,
Susan
