My son just turned 6 months old, and I'd like to have professional photos taken of him and our family.
Does anyone have a photographer in the area that you have used with your baby and would recommend?

I'd recommend Shaun Gabbard (g squared images). I've seen a lot of his work with small children and it's wonderful. He's a dad and is awesome with kids. His website is http://www.g2images.com

We LOVE Angela Lang. She does a great job making the baby and the parents relax, as well as capturing natural, special moments. She is a mom of three, including a 6-month-old. She has a very comfortable, naturally lit studio in her home in Redwood Heights (Oakland) or she will come to you.
We cannot say enough about her. She also recently did a stellar job on my friends' wedding.
We've had Amy Perl take photos several times and feel lucky to have found her. She's easygoing and sweet with kids, has two kids of her own and, most importantly, takes beautiful photographs. She has a studio on Piedmont Avenue in Oakland or she can come to your house or meet you anywhere you choose. She's a lovely person and a very talented photographer. I suggest you check out her website and see if her style appeals to you. And good for you that you are doing this, I think a lot of people think about it but then don't dod it and regret it later.

You can look at her style. She just took photos of our 1 month old (you'll see quite a few of our son's photos under babies- with signs like "merci" for thank you cards and "je t'aime"). She also did family portraits and a storyboard for us. She has a great, creative style!

I highly recommend Nicole Scarborough of Photographs by Nicole. She photographed our family and came well prepared to keep our 1 year old entertained. She brought a bubble machine and toys. Our son enjoyed it and the photos are wonderful. Plus she only charges a flat fee and gives you all of the photos on a CD. She was AMAZING! We got some wonderful pictures of our son. She is EXTREMELY reasonable and is easy to work with. I can't wait to do another session with her.

We also used CLIX! in Willows shopping center in Concord. This X-Mas was the first time we used for our cards & some fam portraits which we were really pleased with. Up until now, I generally used Picture People ( which I still like) but liked that CLIX! has more options for backgrounds & does a great job making sure the lighting is good. They take a lot of pix so once they're ready, be prepared to spend quite a bit of time choosing. You may want to go back w/o the baby so you can get a good look at all of them. I also recommend Picture People. I used them a lot until I found CLIX! & was generally pleased w/them as well. They won't really spend a ton of time w/you & have their set poses but, they are willing to try what you suggest, do a good job of catching many good shots, are quick & cheap. I always had a coupon that gave me a good price & always came home w/many adorable photos. They charge no sitting fee & if you like none of the pix, you buy none. If the baby isn't in the mood, they understand that & will make arrangements for you to come back another time. They are the 'fast food' of photographers & I used them a lot when our boys were babies cuz I just didn't see the point in spending hundreds (& believe me, it can & will add up to hundreds) of dollars on pix of them as at this age.
