You need to sand the table down and hopefully that will take the smell out. If it does revarnish and it should be fine.
have a strange question. We got this really great wooden kids table from my mother-in-laws sister. It is like nothing you could buy now- really well made and beautiful dark wood. The problem is it smells like cat and/or cat urine. It has been in their basement for I imagine 20 plus years. Does anyone know how to get this odor out of wood?

Try a product called anti-icky poo by MisterMax (www.mistermax.com). our cats stopped using the litter box in favor of the basement floor (in protest of the new baby) and this stuff did the trick with the cement floor. the product literature claims it can safely treat anything so give it a try. The product is pretty expensive but it was worth the price for us. good luck!
Hi,
There is a product called "Odo-Ban" that is helpful for this type of problem. We purchased a house and had the same problem on some of the hardwood floors. You may need to strip the furniture, clean it and revarnish it. We had the floors redone, but there is no evidence of the problem now.
Good luck
Hi, I use vinager and baking soda to remove odors. Or, just vinager alone. When u mix the vinager and baking soda it will fizz. Please email me if u find any other ideas.
good luck, C.
However a great wood cleanser that should get rid of urine smell is vinegar and water solution. I would use a big concentrate to get rid of the smell.
