Do you have a personal humidifier that you just love? I'm hoping to buy one for each of the four bedrooms in our home because the air is just so dry! I have two large ones that we use when we're sick but they're so loud that I can't imagine using them every night!

What can I do next?

Most I have tried are just too small to be of any use. I put the room size ones on my night stand and point them at the bed. That way I get the most benefit from them.

The personal ones have to be right in your face and refilled every couple of hours. Not worth my time to get up and do that.

We have Crane humidifiers in all the bedrooms. They work very well for us. The only thing I don't like about them is the power light is really bright so I cover it up really well so you can't see it anymore.

We use a Vick's warm mist humidifier when anyone is sick.
It sounds like boiling water (which to me is a comforting white noise sound).
You have to be careful about humidifiers because too much can foster the growth of dust mites and mold which can make stuffy noses worse.
If your insulation is settled or uneven in the walls there will be cold spots and too much humidity will have condensation form on those cold spots (we had it happen in our older house) and mold will grow.
That's why most people only run them when someone is sick.
Drink plenty of water to stay well hydrated and a little vaseline in the nostrils helps keep your nose feeling comfortable at night.

We have always preferred the ultrasonic as opposed to the fan powered cool mist. They are quieter, but we do need to run the ceiling fan (whether drawing the air up in the winter or down in the summer) to circulate the moisture so it doesn't soak the area right in front of the humidifier.

The last two we bought were the Walgreens ultrasonic model and they've served us well.
