Hi Mama's! I am so honored, my cousin asked me and another cousin to be her personal attendant in her wedding. What does the personal attendant do? I understand I help get her dressed & get her whatever she needs. Are there items I should be bringing with me? Sorry to be so stupid! I didn't have a personal attendant at my wedding! Thanks in advance for your answers!

What can I do next?

How about offering to make her an emergency kit? Needles and thread the color of her dress and the bridesmaids dresses. And any tioletries she might need (blotting tissues, make up, deodorant, bobby pins, etc.). You can go online to see what else goes into one.

You can also make up bathroom toiletry kids for the ladies room at the reception. Put it in a pretty basket.

I've actually never heard of this, but I guess it's like being her valet for the day. Are you in the bridal party as well or is this your role in the wedding? Just a guess, but....
- Drive her to any appointments that day (hair, makeup, nails, etc)
- Help her get dressed
- Make sure she eats
- Have a copy of the day's schedule and ALL contact #'s
- Answer her cell phone and "trouble shoot"
- Have a "survival kit" on hand (Advil, water, nail file, gum, mints, lotion, hair spray, clear polish, needle & thread, tissues, etc)
- Help her change into her honeymoon clothing if they are leaving from the reception

My sisters were my maids of honor and this is pretty much what they did for me that weekend!

You're not stupid. I never heard of this. :)
I think you just have to do what she asks and make her day great.
Good luck

It is such an honor. Everyone asked to be in the wedding should be making the bride or groom feel relaxed and less stressed.

When one of my best friends got married, I wasn't asked to be in the wedding which hurt a little but I the role that I offered to her was to made certain that she had a cup of coffee ready for her at the reception. She loves coffee and I love to make coffee. I purchased a Mickey and Minnie to go mug for her. Had two of my thermoses ready to roll. One with the coffee and the other with her half and half with sugar just the way she likes it. So while at the reception hall sitting at my table I mixed her fresh cup of hot coffee and after the dances with her father and her husband. I handed her the cup of joe. she was both surprised and delighted. Her wedding pictures have her smiling even bigger after receiving the cup of coffee.

Have fun but be a gracious servant on her special day. Hopefully she will appreciate your input and not be a bridezilla.

you have some great answers..In addition, my BIGGEST thing I wanted my attendant to do was to go to the reception BEFORE everyone arrived and make sure everything was ok (to my specifications)...make sure the cake was there and looked presentable, the menu I picked out was being served and that the room looked nice. She did this right after we said I DO (or about an hour before the guest arrived at the reception)
Other than that, keep water on standby, gum deoderant...dont forget about the bridesmaides too...sometimes the key to a brides perfect day is to make sure those bridesmaids are taken care of too for the pictures :)
The actualy DAY, you probably will be standing around not doing much because everyone will be there helping her (her mom, bridesmaids) but just OFFER to help or ask if anyone wants a water, coffee etc.

You're in charge of the extras! Purses, shoes, snacks, missing items..running around to get this and that etc....It is fun and it is a big help to the bride and her attendants! Enjoy :)

To the great suggestions you already have, make sure you have some safety pins with you - maybe a needle and thread - and a couple of bandaids, just in case.
