Ugh! I know how you feel! There are 2 things that helped me. One being the cortizone cream for the itch and the other, Neosporin. Wish you the best!
I just had my second child 3 weeks ago, she was 6 lbs. 9 oz. well unfortunately I tore in the perineal area. They stitched it up and maybe I feel like it's taking longer because I have to be so active with the house and kids, etc. About a week and a half ago I ripped the stitches a tiny bit, that caused some discomfort but there isn't anything you can do but keep it clean and it healed. I go back to work tonite and I feel better but when I'm active the area gets irritaed a little achy and itchy!!!!I use stuff they gave me but why am I taking so long to fully heal this time around, I was fine in like two weeks with my first born granted she was 3 lbs. and I had an episiotomy. ahhh!!!!!

I had a 9lb 3oz baby 3 yrs ago and did well with my "stitched area" in healing. I just had another baby 7 mos ago,8lb 15 oz, and like you was alot more active since I had a toddler to care for this time around, and did tear some stitches picking up my 3 yr old. I too had some itchness down there and ended up having to put an ointment down there for 3 days. Good luck! I think I was sore and uncomfortable for a good 4-6 wks the 2nd time around.
Oh, I feel for you! My 1st child came out with her arm by her head, and tore this area as well. I was sore and achy for almost 2 mths - It was awful! I just assumed this is how childbirth was. Luckily my next 2 children came out much easier! Good luck - you should feel better soon. Call your dr. if you're concerned - they may have other ways to manage the discomfort.
Had the same thing with my first child! Witch hazel pads kept cold in the refrigerator worked really well for me. The cool helped swelling and witch hazel helps with the itching.
I have a 9 1/2 mo. old, my first, and I tore a tiny bit on both the top and bottom, and recovered pretty fast. My guess is that it is a combo between being more active this time around (running after your older child verses, just caring for your first baby and getting more sitting time) and maybe a bit of scar tissue from the previous birth. I'm sure it is annoying though! Best of luck!
Hi S.,
I too had an episiotomy with my 1st one and it took a while to heal...a little over a week. With my 2nd and 3rd I tore and had stitches and the healing was fast. If I were you I would have it looked at just to make sure everything is okay. No matter what after giving birth your sensitive down there so maybe you should slow down and give yourself time to heal. Remember "If Mama ain't happy ain't nobody happy!" :) Good Luck!
