Hi Everyone...My son is turning 5 next month and we're having a Penn St football themed party. We're having it at an indoor playground at a local resort so we don't need any game ideas. It was easy to find the paper goods, invites, balloons etc, but now I'm ready to do the cake...I'm not very experienced, but I really like doing my kids cakes myself - kind of a labor of love. Does anyone have any suggestions - I checked online, but nothing jumped out at me. It could also be a football idea that I could decorate with Penn State colors, name etc. Thanks in advance. We Are....Penn State!

What can I do next?

Were it me, I would make a football shaped cake and then make a stencil of the Nittany Lion (think of a stencil you would make for carving a pumpkin) and use that with dark blue sugar to make the lion image on the cake. I miss Happy Valley being stuck here in Iowa. Aw, I want to go home. Good luck with the cake.

Look for a Wilton football cake pan. They've got to have something out there.

I think a football shaped cake would be good. I don't think you even need to do the cake in Penn State colors, you can make it look like an actual football. I hope your son has a great birthday. Go Buckeyes! ;)
