Penile Adhesion :( - Los Angeles,CA

My one year old has been diagnosed with a penile adhesion. The pediatrician told me to just pull it back after a bath every night and it should eventually come apart but this has turned our nighttime routine into a terror. And I've only been doing it a few days but it doesn't look any better! Plus I keep finding info on the web about how this type of thing doesnt heal on its own and it'll only get worse with time?! I'm thinking of just going to a pediatric urologist and having them pull it apart in one go which I know will be painful but I'm thinking it might be better in the long run?? Any mothers out there have any experience with this? What should I do?? I feel so bad for my little guy.. Thanks.. :(

What can I do next?

They don't warn you about this when you sign up for a routine circumcision do they? :( I'd talk to a urologist for an expert opinion before doing anything else. They might be able to prescribe a steroid cream instead.
Don't circumcise next time.

I'd let the urologist look at it and give you his recommendation. These things can cause issues later that you don't want him to have to deal with. Just my thoughts but personally, I'd rather have him have a hard time with the doctor than with Mom. I think you'd do better being the comforter at this point....

God bless,

My middle boy had this. Just have the doc do it, I couldn't do it. My regular pediatrician did it and he just numbed it a bit and pulled it apart. I had to keep Vaseline on it to keep it apart for about 10 days then the problem was gone.

Good luck

I remember one of my boys had this too....but maybe not as bad. I did have to pull it back with a little strength, he cried, it bled, but all is OK in the end. I would definetly go to a urologist if you want someone to do it for you. It will be a little painfull, but quick and maybe they have something for it.

YES, go to a pediatric urologist. I actually don't know what this is, or how to handle it, but it sounds like something a son shouldn't have to experience from his mommy! Let a specialist deal with it.
