I was curious if anyone else has experienced pelvic pain at 27 weeks to the point where its difficult to walk and move? I have been trying to do yoga to ease my many discomforts and one of the moves was excruciatingly painful when I tried to do it. I am trying so hard to keep exercising through this pregnancy (my 2nd) and I am having the hardest time! I can only walk short distances before my lower back ceases up and almost paralyzes me and now this pelvic pain is killing me. Does it get better, or is that only after childbirth? I don't remember it being this severe with my 1st.

What can I do next?

I had severe pain in my public bone for the latter part of my pregnancy. The OB said it was due to the ligaments stretching and the bones loosening. I ran throughout my pregnancy and did pilates and wore one of those belly support bands. It went away as soon as baby was born. COngrats and good luck. It's these things that keep me form trying for a second : ) I am not as brave.

Back pain can be worse--wouldn't hurt to run your symptoms by your midwife or OB if you have one. Anything that painful in that region is worthy of having it looked into by a physician to be sure all is in the clear.

I had to see a chiropractor during mist of my second pregnancy because of pain in pubic area, my pubic bone kept popping out and I was in pain all the time. I wore a neoprene belt around my hips and saw the chiropractor twice a week, it helped. Same as you, I had nothing like that for my first one.

The pelvic pain you are getting is from the fetus turning and getting ready for the birth canal. Perhaps with your exercising it could be to much for you depending on your weight gain etc. You will find relief once that little one finds the proper spot. At this point it isn't just a quick turn, it takes time and you mommy are feeling the pressure. Once he/she is in the actual birth canal relief will come. Really when you think of it we don't really remember a whole lot about the first pregnancy only if something happened that you were unsure of. There is no doubt that you experienced this with your first but maybe not as forceful. Also depending on the sex of the fetus.
If it continues' after you slow down somewhat on your exercising then I would speak with your OBGYN. I think everything is fine, you are trying to hard. Relax and remember the breathing excercises'. You will be fine mom.
Take care and congratulations!!

I am 27 weeks also and I have pelvic pain. I had it with my second pregnancy and it is much worse now. But, I also have my bladder bulging out too. Sometimes in your first pregnancy during birth, it will wreak havoc on your insides and make your bladder weak. You don't even suffer the consequences until your later pregnancies. There's nothing you can really do if it is your bladder (which it probably is). Do kegels and after birth, ask your doctor about more pelvic exercises. Take it easy is all you can do.

I had something similar happen to me with my 3rd. My groin area would THROB when I would walk or stand and I'd have to shift a certain way or sit to ease the throbbing but it wouldn't go away, just dull a little. It was the way the baby way positioned and it didn't go away until after he was born. :( Likely yours will not either. Best of luck to you and great work keeping up and trying to exercise, it's so difficult especially when you are not feeling 100%. :)

Oh yes I had this problem too, with my first pregnancy, right about the same time. I was in so much pain, I was worried I was experiencing kidney stones. My doctor explained that it was a pair of ligaments that was stretching, and that it would be only temporary. I was skeptical, but he was right. Five years later, when I was pregnant with my daughter, I had the same pain at the same time but MUCH milder.

Of course, every pregnancy is different for every person, and your doctor may be able to set your mind at ease. Don't give up exercise because of it (unless your doctor tells you to!) because if it is muscular or ligament strain the exercise will definitely help you during pregnancy and after while recovering. Good luck, and hope you feel better!

Without being obnoxious, this sounds a little like that joke where the guy goes "doctor, every time I do this, it hurts" and the doctor says "then stop doing that!"

I think it's great that you want to excercise through the pregnancy, but your body might just be telling you to slow it down a bit. Your ligaments and tendons stretch out much more quickly this time around, and it can really hurt. See also if you can get to a chiropractor who has experience with pregnant women. The fact is that you can't take any of the anti-inflamatories that you would normally take, so get a good ice pack and slow down. And if the pain doesn't get better, definitely talk to your doctor. Good luck.
