Pelvic Inflammatory Disease????

I had a beautiful baby girl (#3) on February 18. I had continued bleeding for 9 weeks after delivery. I finally had an ultrasound where it was seen immediately that I still had a piece of placenta in my uterus. At 9.5 weeks post delivery (April 25) I had a D&C to remove it. The tissue was sent to the lab and everything came back normal. I have now been having yellowish and blood tinged discharge, which is much heavier than my normal discharge. I have also noticed very small pieces of something hard (crystal like-white) in my discharge. I have also had pain in my lower right abdomen. I was given oral antibiotics and one dose of IV antibiotics after my D&C. I will be calling the Dr. in the morning, but was wondering if anyone else had something similar happen?? I sure am ready for my body to return to "normal."

What can I do next?

It might be some kind of an infection lingering. Be aggressive in getting it checked out. I had some antibiotics after my second c-section and still ended up with an infection that landed me in the hospital on IV antibiotics. If you feel something isn't right keep trying to get it resolved to your satisfaction.

Without researching... PID brings to mind STDs and chlamydia. Untreated chlamydia turns into PID. PID usually causing sterility in women.

PID is usually a sexually transmitted disease that one gets from a partner as far as I know. I have heard it is extremely painful with abdominal swelling and tenderness, like not even being able to lay on the tummy at night. I would surely anticipate seeing the doc on this one.

Sounds like you still have an infection or have a new one. Definitely call the doctor. If the infection has spread from the uterus it might be called a PID but I think that as long as it's confined to one organ it's not. Its my understanding that PID can be caused by a STD but not necessarily so.
