My 5 year old is the same. My daughter has the same childhood problem I had - which was being in so deep a sleep, nothing would wake me/her. I took medicine which was meant for short term, but took long term on Dr.'s orders and now I cannot STAY asleep, have horrible sleeplessness even when I do sleep because now EVERYTHING wakes me up.

My pediatrician said they do not begin to worry until 8 years old, and to just use pull ups, diapers or a waterproof mat until she is able to adjust her body.

Get a waterproof bed pad.
Put it directly under her. Not under the sheet.
I got mine, from Amazon. They have all kinds.
I like the "quilted" type, because it absorbs well.

Kids.... still do have night time accidents, up until 7 years old and is considered normal, and per Pediatricians.

My daughter, was already 5... and was wearing a night time diaper. Then one day, she said she was able to just wear underwear... and so she did just wear underwear at that point. She felt, 'ready' herself.
But even at 7 years old... (she is now 8 years old), she would have occasional pee accidents at night. No problem because I always used waterproof bed pads under my kids.

My daughter also said, when she is cold at night... that is when she tends to have pee accidents. Her own observation.

all the best,
Susan

My 5 year old son started doing the same thing. His ped said it was because at around age 5 children start to sleep deeply. We use pull ups every night, although for the past 6 months they have been dry when he awakens. Call me lazy, but I'd rather throw away a wet pull up than deal with changing a bed in the middle of the night, but more importantly, him having to get up in the middle of the night on a school night waiting while I change the sheets.

MMM, first I would get a bed cover so that the urine does not soak that matress. Even though you are not giving him anything to drink, are you making for sure that he is going to the bathroom right before bed time? My friend did have this problem, what she did may sound cruel, and if he has an actual medical condition, it won't help. But, her girl wet the bed night after night, and finally one night after she had wet the bed she made her take a cold shower and wash herself off. She never did it again.

Almost all children who wet the bed do not do so intentionally. Most likely, several factors are involved when a child older than age 5 to 6 continues to wet the bed. Possible causes of primary nocturnal enuresis include:

Delayed growth and development. Children with a less mature nervous system may not be as able to sense when the bladder is full.
Small bladder capacity. Having a smaller-than-normal bladder may make some children more prone to wet the bed.
Too little antidiuretic hormone (ADH). Levels of antidiuretic hormone (ADH), a brain chemical that signals the kidneys to release less water, normally rise at night. Some children who wet their beds may not produce more ADH at night.
Sound sleeping. Many parents note that their child who wets the bed is a deep sleeper. These children usually wet the bed less frequently as their sleep patterns mature.
Psychological and social factors. Bed-wetting does not appear to be a direct result of emotional problems. In fact, bed-wetting may be the cause of some emotional disturbances for children. But children living in stressful home situations or in institutions may be more likely to wet the bed.
Some of these factors may be inherited. A child is at increased risk for wetting the bed if one or both parents has a history of bed-wetting as a child.

Most cases of primary nocturnal enuresis are not caused by any medical condition. But secondary nocturnal enuresis, which is bed-wetting that occurs after a period of staying dry, is more likely to be related to a medical condition. Examples of physical causes include a kidney or bladder infection (urinary tract infection) or birth defects that affect the urinary tract . Emotional stress, such as may result from the birth of a brother or sister, can also be a factor in triggering bed-wetting.
