I do know that strep throat can make you throw up, but you also need antibiotics. I don't know if they were busy with sick kids or jsut check ups, but the sick kids should come first. You could take them the emergency room, but that is more expensive.

I don't know the whole story, but I would like to say that Lakeside Peds is a wonderful facility. If you have a problem, then call and speak with Clark. Explain to him what happened, I am sure he will help you. If you called the northside ofc, I know that there are a lot of new faces there. I agree that no one should diagnose over the phone. I do know that strep is going around. Trust you gut, if you aren't happy, then switch. If you are happy over all with the practice, then stay and when you talk to Clark...tell him your concerns.
I hope your son starts to feel better soon. My 2 yr old is sick and I know it's no fun for anyone in the house, esp. mommy! Good luck..

Time to find another doctor, that is for sure. My two girls see Dr. Hutto on Southside Watson Clinic. Anytime I have had to take them, either her or her co-worker sees them the same day! My sister in law also takes her six kids to see Dr. Hutto. We love her.

I can tell you the name of the pediatrician where I have taken my children since my daughter was a baby (13 years now).

Also, if you think this is serious enough, you may consider taking the baby to the emergency room - I know it will cost more on your insurance, but if it's necessary - then I would.

I most definitely agree with you. I would find another doctor if my children's doctor told me that my child may have strep and then told me, "Oh, but sorry. We're 2 doctors short today. Can we see you tomorrow?" NO - strep in small children can lead to all kinds of problems.......

1st...your son is 2, children tend to run high fevers, 102 is nothing like if you had one as high. His fever is back down now, keep the fever reducer around the clock until he gets into see a qualified medical professional.
2nd...strep is not diagnosed over the phone...ever! a culture must be done. That person never should have said that. Are they playing doctor? Maybe alot of kids are coming in with fevers and that is what the doctors are saying they have. I hope that office is doing cultures before giving antibiotics. If not there will be problems later on with immunity to the antibiotics. And thats not good.
3rd...call your insurance company and complain to them, if enough complaints are done on medical professionals the insurance companies will be better selective.
4th...You can also go to www.ratemd.com and rate the doctor and see what others think about almost every doctor around. all good and bad comments are seen to everyone.
