My son is 10 months and a horrible sleeper. We have tried no-cry, cry-it-out, etc and have had no success. Our old doc in Houston was excellent dealing with sleep problems and I am looking for someone like that here as well.

What can I do next?

Hello C.,

I'm B. and am also from Houston, I moved in July to Richardson / North Dallas. I am mom to 3 boys, ages 14, 10 and 8, and have quite a bit of experience with no sleep. =)

It sounds like your baby maybe experiencing some discomfort in his stomach, and if that is so try Mylicon, it's over the counter, and expensive, unfortunately, but it might help. If you can give him a very warm bath, using some kind of chamomile soap and / or lotion after, and then put him into warm footed pj's. Give him the mylicon and a very mild drink of caffeine free tea and mint. This always worked for my boys, and I never had sleeping problems after I tried it.

It may not work for you at all, and you may want to make sure your baby isn't allergic to mint, unless you already know, of course.

Good luck to you, I hope I helped a little.

I don't have any advice, but if you know of any, I would greatly appreciate it. My 3rd child is 14 months old and still does not sleep longer than 4 hours at a time. She goes back to sleep most of the time, but sometimes does not. We're VERY TIRED! We've tried these as well with no success.

hi
i had the same problem..
it takes 3 weeks to break a habbit so you will have to be very consistent with this.
put him down at the same time every night.
give him a bath,etc.. but do the same thing every night.
check on him 5 minutes afterwards and let him know he is fine..but don't touch him or he will probably cling to you.
then leave, the room.
go back 10 minutes later, then 15 minutes later..etc..
but never take him out of his bed.
this might take 3 weeks to get him used the routine..but it will happen.
it seems like eternity when you are going through it. It's not cruel to teach him to go to sleep on his own.
I learned with the first one, so with my second one..I put him down while he was still awake and shut the door. he is 3 years old now and I rarely have a problem. He tells me sometimes that he is ready for bed.
i hope this helps..
