So I have to ask this b/c we just an emergency visit bill from our ENT and it was cheaper than a quick visit to our pediatrician!! I feel like we are totally getting robbed with the rates our peds charges for a 10 min. appointment. It probably hurts more b/c we have to pay all our well visits out of pocket which is so stupid, but nonetheless. What are common well visits look like at your dr.? How much do they charge? How long do they take with you? We go to Vernon Hills Peds in Gurnee. I don't love them and don't care if we switch but wanted to see if their $150 well visit is usual and customary. We are bitter too b/c one time we went in for a well check up and asked about my daughter's reflux and they charged us a well visit AND a medical visit. All out of pocket of course!! Please let me know what you think. If you are from northern lake county, let me know where you go and if you love them. We DO have insurance through my husbands job but it does not pay well visits which I think is absurd but pays well on everything but. Those every three mos. check ups are a killing on the budget. Good thing we should be done with those fairly soon!
Lake Forest Pediatrics is $108 I think. Change to them...they are great! They have offices in Lake Forest, Lindenhurst and the edge of Vernon Hills/Mundelein on Rt 60, the street east of the railroad tracks

It sounds like you need a better insurance plan, overall. Also, depending on your yearly income and financial circumstances, you could look into the KidCare program to see if you qualify.
It all depends on what insurance you have and which plan you are on for what you pay upfront. We have $35-$50 copays per visit that rack up pretty quick when we go to specialists, but we've still gotten our money's worth out of the insurance this year. My In-Laws have a private plan where they paid something like $1500 out of pocket first and then nothing after that - which is great this year since my MIL needed two surgeries. If you don't have insurance at all... then our medical system is the worst ever. I've been there. Twice. And it was a nightmare both times. I feel for anyone stuck in that situation, especially in this economy.
When I haven't had insurance, they've often been between $150 - $300 for standard visits. Some doctors will cut a break if they know you don't have insurance, but most will not. I wouldn't know where to find one that does in this area. Mostly, if you need medicines, most doctors will give you samples first if they know you don't have insurance, to help cut your costs. That's often the best you can seem to expect. If you don't have insurance - I'd highly recommend looking to see if you qualify for KidCare (or All Kids - whatever it's called these days) - which is the state program for those without insurance.

I don't know what the rates are, but all the doctors are great. They have one office in Lake Zurich and one in Arlington Heights. It's called Pediatric Associates of Arlington Heights and the number is ###-###-#### for the Lake Zurich office.
Although I can't tell you about rates (very lucky to have great insurance), I LOVE our pediatricians... Willow Oak Pediatrics (847) 838 - 7337. They have an office in Antioch and one in Libertyville.
