My family moved to the area back in mid-January. Since then, I've been very lucky that my children haven't been very sick. Unfortunately, that also means that I haven't been in a real rush to find a pediatrician. Initially I thought I would simply find a family doctor that could take all of us. That isn't working very well. I am having a difficult time finding a primary care doctor for myself, after the couple of doctors have not been my "cup of tea." I have no desire to be treated by someone I'm not comfortable with, nor my children. I have seen a few doctors at Lakeview Clinic in Waconia, MN, but haven't met a doctor that I felt comfortable with. I am willing to drive up to 30 to 45 minutes to find a great pediatrician. My children are 12, 10, and 8, and are fairly healthy. They have mild asthma triggered by seasonal allergies. I want a doctor who is willing to listen to me as a mother, and not dismiss me simply because I haven't gone to medical school. I am a mother of three, I have dealt with asthma, allergies, ear tubes, and minor issues for over 12 years now. I despise being treated like an over-reactive mother who doesn't understand what is going on with her child. I also don't like being dismissed as "exaggerating symptoms" or needing to let things take their course. If I am going to take my time, money, and effort to bring my child in, I want the time and understanding that I have concerns that shouldn't be taken lightly.
So, moms, can you please recommend that wonderful pediatrician that you absolutely LOVE?
TIA!!!

My daughter (7 weeks at the time) was seen at Lakeview by a doctor whose name I cannot pronounce. His last name is Indian (from India). He was really great with her, he listened well, and he didn't seem overly eager to over-treat her (which I've found to be the case with many others). Call Lakeview and see if you can get in with him. He's great.

On the family doctor side, my family is seeing Dr. Van Kirk who has an interest in pediatrics. He really knows his stuff, and we really like him. The reason we took our daughter to the other doctor was because Dr. Van Kirk was on vacation.

I really like our Ped. He is Dr. John O'Brien at Park Nicollet - Carlson Pkwy (near 394/494). He doesn't take things lightly but also realizes that we now have 4 kids and kind of know what we are doing (at least for the younger ones).

We have used the Wayzata's Children Clinic in Spring Park (Mound) since our first one was born 3 years ago. LOVE them!! We've seen all of the doctors at some point and haven't been disappointed by anyone of them. They also have clinics in Minnetonka and Chaska which have walk in appointments between the two clinics, 7 days a week!!!

This might be a little drive but we absolutely love Wayzata Children's Clinic in Minnetonka. I highly recommend them. Dr. Benson and Dr. Dodig are great but I have never had one that I would not recommend.
