Pediatrician in the Corinth/Lewisville/Denton Area

I live in Corinth and I have a little boy who just turned two. I am also about 5 weeks pregnant with our second child. I have been trying to find a more holistic pediatrician for a while but I haven't had much luck. I've been taking my son to Kid's First and they are fine, but they don't like to delay vaccinations and they just don't have the same philosophy that I do on many things. For instance, I nursed my son till he was nearly two, but they have been telling me at each appointment how hard it is to wean the longer you wait after your child turns one. I didn't have a hard time at all with weaning him and I am glad I nursed him for as long as I did. I also did not want to vaccinate him on the 'normal' schedule and they kept telling me all the bad things that could happen if he wasn’t vaccinated. When I asked about the dangers of vaccinating they basically told me there was no reason to worry.

I’m not opposed to doctors, but I want someone who doesn’t believe everything should be fixed by a pill. Someone who is willing to consider a natural approach as well as a medical approach and pick the one with the best outcome.

I have been recommended to Dr. Linda Yeatts in Denton and she was great, but she is a family practice and does not take children under two years old and she can’t do any vaccinations. (is it normal for a family doc to not do shots?)

Thanks in advance!

I also would suggest Dr. Newell in Denton. He has been our Dr. for 5 years now and we love him. My children actually request to go see him when they don't feel well. His entire staff is awesome. I have only every had good experiences and always get the best advice. He always has a homopathic and medical approach and you can trust that he'll lead you down the best path. Good Luck!!!

I second Thomas Newell in Denton. He will delay vaccines and encourages a more natural approach to illnesses. We took my son at his 2 week checkup and now 4 years later the entire family sees him. The office staff is great, too.

I highly recommend Dr Harris at Pecan Creek Pediactrics. She is wonderfull. She is easy to talk to and thnks outside the box when necessary. Waiting room time is little excessive at times. I think that is because she takes time to talk to you and address all concerns.

We take our 18 month old daughter to the Family Care Center (Dr. Tom Newell) in Denton. I still nurse my daughter and they have encouraged it all the way. They do altered vaccination schedules -- even recommend them. They have been great!
