Does anyone know of a GREAT Pediatrician or a Pediatrician/homeopathic (both) in the Cottonwood Heights/ Sandy area?
I am looking for a new Pediatrician because the one had said it was ok to keep my three year old home with a fever of 104.1 and keep her hydrated. Yet my daughters fever was at 103. 4 for a while and despite the increase she did not seem bothered as I was. She just did not seem to care especially since it was after hours. Very scary to put my daughters health in her hands. Never again.
I would also like it to be closer so it is not such a long drive.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your advice it helped me out allot and I rested better for sure. I got so many conflicting opinions before I was not sure. Her fever reached 104.1 and stayed for a while but started to go down to 101 and then stayed there for all day one day. The Motrin and ty trading really helped Thanks again!

Yeah, I have to chime in too. This is normal. My pediatrician doesn't want to see us until the fever is a 104 on Tylenol (not responding to medication) or if the fever lasts longer than 3 days. I am really happy with her laid back approach - it is not like they would actually DO anything for a 103.4 fever - other than sending you home with the advice to give Tylenol or Motrin.

If you want to switch, by all means do so, but your doctor gave pretty commonsense advice.

Good luck!

I hate to tell you this, but it's pretty normal advice. As long as the fever is coming down with ibuprofen or tylenol and hasn't gone on for more than a few days, most pediatricians will tell you to keep them hydrated and dress them lightly. Cool rags on the back of their neck and popsicles can help too. We JUST went through a round of high fevers here and my pediatrician (that I love) game me the exact same advice. Hope your daughter feels better soon!

My Doc would say the same thing, unless it is a newborn to 6 months they will say wait till the next day or two days. I'm sorry your daughter isn't feeling well! I will say a prayer for her and I hope you find a doctor you are happy with but I think all pediatricians will say yhe same thing.

I take my kids to Shellie Ring at Willow Creek Pediatrics here in Cottonwood Heights. She is fabulous but may not be accepting new patients. I have seen other pediatricians in her office though and all seem to be really good. At this office they have after-hours and weekend hours. I have always been able to get in on the days when we have had emergent things come up. I often alternate between Tylenol and Ibuprofen for temps though with good success.
