Does anyone know of a school I can start my little girl in? We are in the O'fallon/St. Peters area in FZ school district. She is VERY allergic to nuts and has to have an EpiPen at her side at ALL times, anyone know of a school that doesn't have any nuts or maybe a special room???
FYI: I know First Academy says they are a nut free school, but I know teachers who work there, and that is not true by ANY means! SO any others besides that one!
Sunrise United Methodist Church (just west of hwy K on south outer 364 at the entrance to the Twin Chimneys subdivision) has a great preschool and they are nut free. My son is highly allergic and starting there in the fall.
http://www.sunriseumcpreschool.org/ They may have a waiting list depending on the class you want, but they do move through the list, so put your name in anyway!

West County Day School of O'Fallon is. They are very strict about it in my daughter's class.

Call United Services and talk to them. I do know they have "peanut free" rooms or "cinnamon free" rooms or whatever else kids could be allergic too. One is located at Cave Springs and the other is at Dardenne Prairie. I have been to both and just love it. My 6 year old use to go there and now my 2 year old is going. The number to call is ###-###-####.

Sorry to hear about your divorce. It all gets better, and it takes time. :o)
I do not know of any "peanut free" schools, is there such a thing? I have a friend with daughter that has an allergy like your, she carries her pen with her where ever she goes. When she started preschool earlier this year (in Kirkwood) my friend visited the school several times about the issue, talked with the teachers, explained and stressed over and over again her concerns and the health risks of nits and then she had to let it go. She realized that unfortunatly this is something her daughter will ALWAYS have to deal with and there is only so much she can do to protect her little girl regarding the matter. She has taught the daughter to ALWAYS ask an adult if she can eat whatever it is before she eats it, etc.
My sons and I belong to playgroup/childrens bible study at our church and just as a matter of principal they do not use nuts, and do not offer food that could trigger this popular allergy. I think the allergy is becoming more well known and peopel are becoming much more aware of it and therefore places are taking more precautions. Some folks still have no clue, but I see a trend toward it being a common thing.
Anyway, maybe this is all babble! But I guess I'm just saying I don't know of a place that claims to be this but perhaps through education from you about the matter that you will find the schools are better prepared than you think they may be to deal with you daughters situation. :o)
