Paying Babysitter!

I just had a new babysitter watch my boys for the first time. She is 13 and seems so sweet. I think we were her first job! Her mom asked if she could bring her 10 year old sister because the mom was going to be at work today. I said yes and I think everyone had a fun time. When I came home I paid the 13 year old girl but not the 10 1/2 year old. I feel bad! Should I have paid the 10 1/2 year old too?

Thanks,

Nickie

No. You made the deal for the 13 year old and actually did the mom a favor allowing the 10 year old to be there.

If you wanted to give the younger gir
a few bucks.. say $5.00 it would be fine.

I wouldn't feel bad. The 10 year old was there because she didn't have any other place to go so you were doing the mother a favor by letting her come too. When she's older she will get babysitting jobs and will be paid then.

No.

If I was the mom, I'd ask if the 10.5 year old helped and if so, I'd give her some more. But I would not expect you to pay her :).

No. You didn't hire the 10 year old. You hired the 13 year old. If the 13 year old wants to split her pay, that is her decision. You were doing them a favor by letting the 10 year old come too so you shouldn't have to pay her too.

If this had been me and I asked if the other child could come too I would have discussed the money with them before they came so the other child would have understood. The mom could have been paying the older girl for babysitting the sister, the mom could have suggested the older girl give the younger girl some of the money, she could have told the younger girl that the older girl was working and she was not...I would let the mom handle it.

Absolutely not. If anything, she was "babysitting" her younger sister too because their mom was at work. Makes no sense to me to pay the 10 yr old when you hired the 13 year old.

No. You hired the 13 year old. Pay her only. At best their mom should be paying the older child for watching her sister.

Nope. Only pay the actual babysitter that you hired.

No, the 10 year old was being baby sat. :) Their mom should pay the oldest for watching the youngest along with your kids.

No, there is no reason to pay the extra. If you would hae asked that they both come to watch your kids then yes pay both BUT this was someone who you approved to hang out at your house while the babysitter watch the kids. To me it would be the same situation if you ask someone to watch your child(ren) and they ask if significant other or friend tags along... you pay the sitter not the added guest.

No, she was a tag-a-long not the sitter. If the sister wants to split the funds with her, that's between them.
