Hey moms quick question - Im looking at the wholesomebabyfoods.com website and it says babies my daughters age range (10 months) can be introduced to pasta. I would like to do that but I was wondering do I just give it to her plain? Thanks =)

At ten months both my kids ate all table food (except honey); I love flavorful food so I fed my kids all the spices I love Cinnamon, ginger, garlic, cloves, etc.(not chili, yet). So I make pasta with butter, salt and garlic; yum! Unless you breastfeed, this is when your children acquire their taste in food. Have fun and don't hold back taste, enjoy :)

I'm pretty certain my kids first pasta was bites of ours from the dinner plate, sauce on. Plain? That freaks me out :)

Make them all the ways you would enjoy them, since that's how she will be eating them when you just put her on all table foods (which can be done now). My kids ate them with a variety of different sauces & their favorite, still to this day, is a little butter with parmesan cheese.

Yep!! Plain is the way to go...

We called them 'naked noodles'...and even now that kids are 'way' older...I still get requests for naked noodles!

Have fun!

I wouldn't want to eat it plain. Why would your daughter? I don't remember my son's first noodles, but I know I made him mac n cheese by 12 months. Also, I like to make noodles with just a little bit of italian dressing on it - like a pasta salad. So a little butter would be fine, a little flavor of some sort is needed I'd say.

Yep - start with plain. You can put a tiny bit of sauce on later once she decides she likes the pasta, but plain is fine. :)

Plain is the correct way. After awhile, you can try a small bit of sauce . Only think I recommend is cutting up the noodles if they are even the slightest bit "big". The texture is so new to babies that they sometimes have difficulty swallowing it at first and they don't allow the saliva to form before swallowing a plain noodle. My daughter had pasta keep getting stuck in her throat the first few times. She wasn't choking, but she kept clearing her throat like one would when they get a piece stuck in. When introducing a new food, you don't want something like that to interfere and have the baby end up not liking it. Good luck:)

You could put a little bit of butter on them, or some pasta sauce would be fine. Or even a cheese sauce, that would be yummy :)

Any way is fine, truly. I don't think that her first experience with pasta necessarily needs to be "plain". At 10 months my kids would eat it plain, mac and cheese, with tomato sauce, alfredo sauce or with melted butter. I would probably start with either cheese or butter first, plain is, well...sort of plain and boring, but it is fine. Just FYI, both my kids were solely on table food at 10 months so anything that you think she might like, give it a try, just cut it up small and make sure it's soft!

I like plain pasta, right out of the pot when I'm cooking. We gave out kids plain noodles to start, plopped them right on the high chair tray. They ate with their hands - makes for some fun photos for grandma.
