Hey Mama's

I appreciated mama Lee P's question and it got me to thinking about myself. Everyone struggles with a vice, bad habbit and weakness, and I am sure that we have read the book, listenend to the tape and ignored the fact! to the point that we know the solution or do we? I listen a lot to Joyce Meyers and one of my favorite..no two of my favorite quotes are "Choose to change by making different choices" and "do it afraid".
My question is what is the balanced solution( have you researched it) to your vice and can you commit to doing the just that for 30 days? Who do You have in your life to push you to be better in that area?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

My Weakness is procrastination (that's the first one i will tackle... anyway) I too will put off paperwork until the last minute among other things. I found that my solution is to choose to change by reminding myself to do things another way I comitt to tackle priorities at once for 30 days and as always my husband is the one to hold me accountable

I have to say, I don't really like your characterization of a 'vice'. I am sure everyone has something they would like to do better at, learn more about or work on personally. But that doesn't mean they have a 'vice'- something actively harmful to themselves or others! I think even by starting off with that mind-set, you are already beating yourself up as a 'bad' person with a 'vice'. Beating yourself up and lowering your own self-esteem is not going to help you to work harder on a goal or find inner strength to face a personal challenge. Personally, I have some goals for things I want to do better at, but I don't consider any of them 'vices'.

i think i am going to check out Joyce Meyers... i never heard of her. I am afraid of big crowded places...and being closed in...like a mall. You are closed in.. it's crowded... its big. I've gotten used to going to the mall i just stay away on weekends.. or near the holidays.. I still haven't conquered an airplane.. i am so afraid .. to be closed in, the busy airport..., and then to go places away from my home and places i know. I don't like to go to a new place or a party if i son't know who will be there, what to expect... if my family is with me, it's a little better. My one dream and wish is to get on an airplane.. for my sake and for my family I have been told these symptoms are like agrophobia... I hate living being afraid... xanax helps somewhat... say a prayer that maybe this winter we will fly... allie~~~ p.s. good luck to us all!!! :) smiling helps alot!

I'm a smoker. I hate it, my husband hates it. I try quitting just about every day. Ive gone 2 weeks before (thats the longest) and then start again and feel even worse for being so lame and weak. I have not yet found my solution obviously.

Actually, I think I need counseling to attack some of my weaknesses!!!

For me, talking things through, and having someone combatting my unhealthy or faulty thought processes helps me immensely. The problem is I don't have anyone to do this for me on a regular basis, that could be completely objective. That's where the counselor comes in.
