Hi all! All the parks I have been to have been in Sarasota. Do you know of any nice parks in Bradenton? Something shaded and fenced in would be great. I am wondering about having my son's birthday at a park and several people would be coming from St. Pete, so I don't want to make them drive further in to Sarasota. Thanks for your help!

What can I do next?

You should look into GT Bray Park. It is between 51st Street and 59th Street, and part way between Cortez Road and Manatee Ave. If you look at the parks and recreation section in the phone book, you may be able to find a number and ask questions.

G.T. Bray Park in Bradenton is a great place to go. There are two areas to go, one by the baseball fields and the other is under trees by the walking paths. Both are fenced in. It's located off of 51st St. in Bradenton or you can get there by going on down 59th. I hope it helps.

Hello! Not exactly a park, but have you heard of Hunsader Farms? It is on 675 between SR64 and SR70. It is great, my kids love it there (boys ages 2, 5, and 7)! They do birthday parties there and have a train, animal feeding, picnic area, ice cream shop, playground, tricycles, sandbox, it is great! You can also buy fresh fruits and vegetables which is why we go there. We can stay for hours and the kids never get bored, plus it is so quiet and peaceful, which with 3 boys I don't get very often:) Good luck and happy birthday to your son!

This one may not work out for your birthday party, as it is extra driving for your out of town guests... but Joan Durante Park, near the northern end of Longboat Key is a great park for an outing with kids. It has about 1/2 to 3/4 miles of paths for walking (too soft going for bikes) through mangroves and near the bay. Lots of interesting wildlife, also a beautiful gazebo, playground and bathrooms. My kids loved it when they were toddlers and we go there still.
