Hi Ladies! My husband and I are preparing for the arrival of our 2nd baby, thus we are doing a lot of cleaning and organizing. My hubby is a pack rat and saves everything; he is also a computer guy and lives in constant fear of having our identities stolen (which isn't unreasonable in this day). Therefore, he has saved old bills, credit card offers, and all of our college papers with our SSN on them. He has gone through a couple of shredders, but he hasn't had one in a while, thus we have boxes full of this stuff. Does anyone know a place where we can just take all of it and have it all shredded?? I plan on getting him a shredder, but it would take hours at this point and we need the room he keeps all this in. There is a very small charge, but we call all the family and neighbors and see if any one else has any thing and make one trip. It works out great. I also use it for my businness. Hope this helps. K. We used to shred everything, but got sick of the hassle. Now we have a box for all of the papers and then when it is a cold day, my hubby burns it all in the fire place. In the summer, he has a barrel he burns it in outside. I don't know of any shredding places except for businesses and I think it is expensive.

*computers/printers/fax machines
*exercise equipment
*fencing

*lawn brush/tree limbs
Free paper shredding service available. A four-box limit per household will be accepted. Box size should not to exceed 12" W x 15.5" L. No commercial business paperwork accepted.
Household chemicals (including paint, pesticides, solvents and batteries) will be collected at the Environmental Collection Center, located at 6726 Walnut St., in conjunction with the Chunk Your Junk event.

You can call Office Depot or Office Max and ask them. They have a huge commercial shredder. On certain days they will have the shredder at different locations (usually on Saturdays) and the public can bring stuff to shred, then they recycle the shredded materials. We've been through a couple of shredders as well. My mom purchased one at Sam's that she likes a lot, I think it was about $70. If you are interested I will ask her for the brand name.
If I had that much shredding to do, I would do a little shredding during the commercials of my favorite program. This is sorta like eating a elephant one bite at a time, but it can be done!
We bought a chiminea (spelling?) and sit outside on the porch and burn things like that on a cold day.

S., congratulations on your upcoming birth. I too have a girl (almost 3) and an 8 month old boy...the best of both worlds. We just went through the same exercise. My husband and I own our own business (we are also computer guys) and so he was also very leary about all that info getting out into the world. We used a company called Secure On-Site Shredding, Inc., owned by Kathryn Shrum. You can reach her at ###-###-#### and tell her that P. Jasina (WBCS) referred you. They have an onsite location in Arlington where you can take all your stuff and watch it get shredded, or they can come right to your home. We opted to take our bags of papers to her home (In Allen) where I watched her lock everything into a recycle-type dumpster. They bring the shredder to their home once a week (it was cheaper). The shredding process they use is such that they never touch any of the papers; the papers go directly into the shredder which is more secure. I hope this helps and Kathryn is a real sweetheart!
