C.B.
Hi A.,
I've had 2 c-sections, and never had any problems with my vaginal area at all. I've always considered that to be the best thing about c-sections. I think you should see a Dr. ASAP.
This is really embarassing but I need some advice and some possible experience. I had a rather emergency C-section five weeks ago. My daughter was born pre-term at 36 weeks. I have healed better and much faster than I was afraid I would. However, there is one thing that I can't seem to figure out. (My OB is fantastic, but doesn't listen to my whole symptom list so I want to go in kind of prepared.)
I have had vaginal and outside pain (such as when I go potty or when I am washing up in the shower). The other night in the shower I pressed a bit too hard and was in tears it hurt so bad. There has also been an odor, that I can't get rid of no matter how well I wash or with what. Even a bath didn't work. I assumed this would disappear when the bleeding stopped. It hasn't either. I just can't quite figure it out. I don't have any symptoms of a yeast infection. I was in labor for about 15 hours, but never dialated past a 4 even with the Pitosin. Has this happened to anyone else? I would really appreciate any thoughts.
Thanks for all your help! I went to my OB and it turned out to be an infection. Probably bacterial vaginitis. She put me on a heavy anti-biotic (since I'm not nursing) and everything is fine. The other thing that really helped was shallow baths. Thanks again!!
Hi A.,

Oh you poor thing. I had two c/s and never had this problem that you are experiencing. It almost sounds like you could have an infection. You need to make your doc listen to you right now or go see another doctor. Good Luck and sorry that you are going through this.
Ok...so I dont want you to freak out but make sure NOTHING was left behind when they stitched you back up!
First of all, I have no medical training. But it sounds to me like something was left in your incision, like a surgical sponge. I know that sounds bizzar, but it is a fairly common occurance. The smell may be caused by infection, around the foreign object. Since your doctor won't listen, call and talk to a nurse, and tell her you suspect a surgical sponge was left inside, and since your O.B. won't listen, ask to see another doctor. Good luck, and i hope you feel better soon. T.
It sounds like you either have a really bad infection or something went wrong during the c section. insist on an ultra sound of your pelvis. If the pain is really bad go to the hospital. he odor is an indication that you have an infection or perhaps venereal disease. get it check out immediately! they will check you over and see if your ob made an error or if it can be treated with antibiotics.
You could possibly have an infection. I would go to the doctor today, you might need antibiotics. I'm sorry you're uncomfortable and embarrassed. Trust me, the gyno docs have seen and heard it all. It's probably something that can just happen. You shouldn't be in this much pain, this long after childbirth. Maybe your incision healed OK on the outside, but something is wrong inside and it's draining there. Also, you could have a bacterial infection from them checking you. Take care and let us know how it goes. It might happen to someone else that is too embarrassed and won't ask.
Any kind of odor especially a foul one is a sign of an infection. and with the pain chances are it's in your incision. You should go get checked out before it spreads and makes you sicker. With the c-section If the smell and pain feel internal make sure to ask them to check and make sure nothing got left behind during the surgery ( it happens ) . Good luck and congrats on your little one
PLEASE go see a doctor ASAP!! That is not normal AT ALL for labor recovery, not even a vaginal labor, especially not a CS! Please let us know what's going on when you find out and are feeling better!
Praying for a quick diagnosis and recovery,
M.
I agree with everyone here. Go straight to the ER. Not to scare you but just to let you know how serious it could be...I remember a case like that not too long ago and incidentally the doctor left some gauze inside during a c/s.
I also had a C-section after being induced. It was two and a half years ago and with pregnancy brain I must admit..I don't remember much about after the surery. Make sure you let your doctor know though. The smell and the toileting pain could indicate a urinary tract infection that could go to the kidneys if left untreated. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) can also have these symptoms..on the other hand it could be nothing. Each case is different but just to be sure ... vist your obgyn...or your family doctor if you prefer. Good luck.
sounds like an infection, especially with pain involved.. Go check it out
Hi A.,
I have worked in the medical field for over 15 to 20 yrs & I have read the responses & YES, YES, GO ASAP TO YOUR DOCTOR.
I MEAN DO NOT PASS GO, CALL IMMEDIATELY & IF HE CAN'T SEE YOU, THEN GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM and beleive me this is nothing to be embarrassed about. The smell definately sounds like an infection & the additional pain is a BIG RED Warning sign that something is WRONG. Go ONLY with this problem, not wait until your next appt. If you Doc isn't listening then stop talking until HE DOES while HE IS in the room. BE clear & write down the dates & times the symptoms appearred & are they continuing

My family will keep you in our prayers, please let us know how you are doing
