When I was trying to get pregnant they told had me do the ovulation kit and said to test in the morning and when it changed, have sex that night, the next morning, and that next night. Dr. said after that was just bonus! I now have a three month old! Good luck!!

The phase of Ovulation triggers your period 14 days after ovulation. So, in theory, if you have sex 14 days prior to your next period, you should increase your chances.

14 days after your period may not be the right time for your body if you're not on a 28 day cycle. If you have a 35 day cycle (like I did) you will want to start having sex around your 18th day (not the 14th day) since it would be approximately the 21st day in which you would ovulate.

Sperm is supposed to live outside the male body (in yours) for up to 2 days, so they say an every-other day schedule should be sufficient for catching that window of opportunity.

If you start on your 17th or 18th day, and have sex everyother day for the next 10 days, that means that you will have had 5 chances to hit your ovulation cycle on both the beginning, middle and end of your ovulation cycle.

Hope this helps.

Quick Edit: My temp varied ALOT everyday wether I was ovulating or not, so don't rely on your tempurature entirely as an indication of ovulation. I tried taking my temp for a year and was NEVER able to pin-point my ovulation time using that so be careful with this method. This lead me to a year of disappointment every month.)

We successfully conceived by having sex 24 and 12 hours prior to ovulation. There is a 48 to 72 hour window before ovulation that you can have sex and get pregnant. Good luck!

Sperm can live up to 3 days, and your egg will break down about 24 hours after it's released. So If you had sex less than 72 hours before your egg released and less than 24 hours after it did, you still have a decent chance.

Your chances of getting pregnant are ultra good...You are probably more fertile the day or two BEFORE you ovulate.

I will also recommend the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler, MPH. I have a feeling that it would help anyone become pregnant, even if they thought they couldn't!

Sperm can live up to 5 days inside of you. Even though it's better to within a few. Your timing is good if you ovulated then, but it's not a guarentee. But I will keep my fingers crossed for you and wish you luck.

I really feel that the whole ovulation thing is really over rated. The best thing you can do it you are trying to have a child is to let things take it's course. Have intercorse on a whim and make it fun don't schedule it. Letting it happen that way will help reduse the stress of trying and if it doesn't happen it can be a little dissapointing. Try to remember how things were when you and your spouse first got together and started having intercourse the feeling of just being able to do it when you wanted to and having those whims where you just did it because you wanted to. This technique usually gives a positive pregnancy test within six months don't quote me for sure just in case it doesn't work out that way. Good luck.

Relax my friend! Yes, 4 a.m. on the day you ovulate counts. Having sex the day before, day of, and day after pretty much covers your bases.

Have fun, and good luck!

Sperm are viable for approximately three days. So if you are having relations anytime within three days before or three days after ovulation, then the timing is right for conception to occur. Are you sure of the time of ovulation? There are several ways to determine when ovulation occurs, both natural and with medical aids. I don't know where you are in the process of having a child, but I can explain more if needed.

Good luck!

if you are actively trying to get pregnant, you should be taking your temperature everyday to help predict the best days of your cycle. please read: taking charge of your fertility!! I thought I knew how my body worked, but this book really helped. The temp and other signs will help you determine your best days and then when/if you are pregnant your temp will also let you know that you are pregnant!!

Good luck. Also, if you have any fertility issues, your doctor will want you to start charting...this way it will already be done and you can speed up any options you may need for help. I charted and used clomid for both of my pregnancies.
