I agree, the stretchy white stuff is the true indication. My friend was ovulating on day 23 when she got pregnant, I have another friend that consistently ovulated on day 18 & 19.
Hello,
My name is Rachael, and I am wondering if some of you ladies who are more familiar with ovulation and fertility planning can help me out. My husband and I are trying for a third child, and I am trying to track when I ovulate. With our first two, we were very blessed to get pregnant quickly and did not really pay much attention to this. (Also, quite frankly, it was less difficult to find the time to "try" for a baby when we didn't already have two of them keeping us busy!) I just got my period this week, but for three days before it started, I had just a tinge of pink (barely noticeable) "spotting." (I probably wouldn't have even noticed it if I hadn't been paying such close attention and wondering if I was going to get my period.) So my question is, do I count the first day of my period as the day when I first noticed this teeny bit of show or when it came in earnest?
Thanks for any insights!

I would start day 1 on the first day that "real" bleeding began and assume that the spotting was break through bleeding. The fertal phase of your cycle is from about day 6 to about day 12 to 14. Every womans body is a bit diffrent but that is the typical window. You should also watch your mucus patterns as well. The more mucus you have and thinner that it is the more fertal it is. Enjoy the baby making process;)

The "egg white" explanation is true and worked for me and my husband.
Good Luck!
Hi R.,
When I was trying to get pregnant with our second child I did a few different things.
I used 2 different web sites - www.mycycle.com and www.webmd.com. They both have free ovulation tractors.
I also used fertility kits. They are a little expensive but worth it. I liked the digital ones - they are very easy to read. And I didn't have to guess if I saw a line or not indicating I was ovulating.
Also, a few moms on this site told me to take Mucinex right before ovulating. I took it daily the week after my period ended right up thru it said I was ovulation. It worked the first month I tried using it!
Good luck...
I just wanted to suggest the ovulation predictor tests- they worked very accurately for me. Hope that helps!
this is super easy....
the first day of your period (whichever day you decide it is)
count 10 days from that day....then have sex for the next 5 days straight...that's your window...it works...
I asked this question to other mom-experts before and we're all in agreement like the other two that you start counting from the day when you clearly had blood flow...not from the spotting just before. Good luck!
We, too, are trying for our third child. I've resorted to ovulation tests (it's been three months, and like you, we got pregnant right away before), and the instruction say to count the first day of full menstrual flow as the first day of your period. If your cycle is typically 28 days, you should try between days 7-13. (At least that's what my doctor told me, too.) Good luck!
I agree with Marion G., They have ovulatin calculators online so you can type in the first day of your last period and it will tell you when you would be most fertile. I have used this twice with my last two kids and it is pretty accurate.
Good Luck.
Good question. Count the first day as the day you were sure you were bleeding. If that is spotting, so be it...then that is the first day. For reassurance, you could count the first day of spotting as day 1, but also figure out the difference if you counted the first heavier day as day 1. All the days in the middle of that gap, count as possible ovulation days...and have sex on all of them! It will be fun at the very least!

R.,
Count from the first day of your period. Also, around the 14th day when ovulation starts, you might notice a clear, very slick discharge. This is the very first sign of the start of ovulation and lasts for a couple of days.
R., have you ever heard about taking your temperature everyday to determine when you'll ovulate? Here is a good description
http://www.ovulation-calendar.net/fertility-indicators/ba...
Natural Family Planning thru the Couple to Couple League (it was started in the Catholic organization) has teaching materials on this. I know people who have used this for many years.
I'm just curious, have you heard about using nutrition to prepare your body for optimal preganancy? Would you like to learn more?
Blessings on your growing family!

its a myth that everybody ovulates on the 14th day. the only true way to tell when you are ovulating is to check your cervical fluid. normal fluid goes from none to kind of sticky on your fingers, to creamy white to egg white (it literally looks and stretches like egg white). when you see that egg white - start going - youll probably ovulate within a couple days. to try for a boy have sex the day after your last egg white day - for a girl have sex during your stretchy/creamy time. for a more detailed explanation of all this check out taking charge of your fertility by toni wessler (sp?) also ivillage.com has a fertility group. you could also google natural family planning ot fertility awareness. or email me and ill give you a better explanation.
