Hi all

Are there any other Kaiser Facilities in Northern California that have midwives available for delivery besides Walnut Creek. I am moving to the city most likely and was wondering if anyone else has midwife program or birthing tubs?

I had my first baby at Kaiser SF and it was really great. However, I don't know if they did or didn't have any of the programs you mentioned. They had just built a new maternity wing and the recovery room was really nice with a place for my husband to sleep. Good-luck.

Hi D.. I believe my doctor told me Redwood City Kaiser has midwives and San Francisco Kaiser does not.

IIRC, Hayward might also have midwives. Good luck!

I'm due in June and am delivering at Kaiser Hayward. My understanding is that nurse midwives staff L&D 24/7, and OBs only step in for medical interventions. They have a single tub that patients can labor in, but not give birth in, and each labor suite has a shower. L&D was remodeled fairly recently (2002, I think), and it is a certified "baby-friendly" hospital - meaning breastfeeding is promoted, baby rooms in with mom, and no formula samples are handed out. I hope that helps.
