Whoo hoo. I have energy today!!!!! I feel creative!
What fun ways are you organizing your house? We have a lot of extension cords that we need to organize in the basement. Anything you can tell me that is a fun cute way to organize a little let me know.
I can shop tomorrow for things I need. Links are accepted and wanted for pictures!
ETA - I am trying to organize toys, my kitchen, my laundry, my bathroom, ok you get the point.
As for all of the extension cords, when we were putting on our roof (tin) we had to have a lot of them for everyone working up there. I think we have seven? plus the tools I HAVE TO ORGANIZE MY MESS OF TOOLS!!!!!!
I have no suggestions but if any of you want to come to my house and help me get organized my door is always open!!! lol!!!
Good luck!!
3 huge garbage bags / containers: 1. donation. 2. to keep. 3. throw away. happy organizing!!!!
An over the door , shoe organizer.
I'm in that type of mood today too!!! Tis the season to purge and organize before the new year!!!
I also love the over the door shoe holders! Use them for tons of stuff! I have 3 hanging bar things in my basement that I hand all kinds of stuff on - out of season coats, beachbags etc and one of those shoe organizer holds stuff from sunglasses and sunscreen to hats and mittens!
It's hard to answer because you don't say what you're trying to organize (toys, kitchen stuff, closets?) other than a lot of extension cords you need to organize in the basement.
That's pretty funny! Please share why you need a large supply of extension cords in your basement, I am genuinely curious lol!!!
To keep extension cords neat and separated wind them in a large loop by holding the end in your hand and wrapping them over your elbow. When you get to the point that you have a couple of feet of cord left wrap it around the middle of the loops (take the loops off of your arm first). Then tuck the end into the long loops and under the small loops which you've wrapped around the middle. Consider how cords look when you buy them new.
Then you can hang them on a hook or put them in a storage container.
In the kitchen plan for centers based on activities and put all the supplies needed for that activity in the same place. For example, all baking supplies go in one cupboard. Utensils used at the stove or next to the stove. I put the spoons, spatulas, turners in a large container next to the stove, while the ones I use less often are in a drawer next to the stove. The pots and pans in the cupboard under the cook top. The dishes and cutlery are together and are closest to the table. The glasses closest to the sink.
Paper towel rolls (empty ones) store the extension cords nicely, if they are short. It sounds like you have heavy duty ones so I would suggest a small container (tote) with a lid. Keep them all in one place that way. Wish I could describe how my husband ties them up so nicely. He has a "special" way he rolls them up and they never get tangled.
I am all about organizing. Something happens to me once I get started, I just cannot stop. Was just in my downstairs enclosure today and noticed how badly everything is so disorganized. My husband's doing! I am going to make it my mission over the next up coming weeks to get that place organized and cleaned up. And I have a rule that if I have something that isn't being used, or hasn't been used, I am very discriminating with it to where it should go. I do have limited space so I cannot keep things for those just in case moments or some people hang onto things because they might need them later. IF I can't use it or use it now (not talking about seasonal things or things used but not often), I get rid of it. I found in a cabinet something I'd been hanging onto since I got married (20 years ago!). Never used, not even opened....just taking up space. I got rid of it.
First is to get rid of everything you dont use, then to reorganize. I find that rearranging a few furniture items always makes the house feel a little fresher.
I like those space saver bags that you put things in and use the vacuum to suck out all the air. They store pretty good and you can fit quite a bit in them too.
I went to the dollar store and bought a bunch of baskets and organized my son's toys and other craft things in them. Cheap, and easy.
I've been organizing like crazy. I must have bought 30 shoe box size storage containers in the last month!
In any case, dump 30% of the stuff, and then figure out the best storage containers for the item at hand.
On my list for supplies is a box for wrapping paper!
