Opinion on Kid's Condition and How to Pursue

My 16.5 month old has had many tests done on him in the last 8 months. As of this week, we've been told he has some sort of fatty tissue or deposit in or around his spinal canal in his lower spine that may be causing the nerves there to stretch. Since it was his urologist that found this and not someone who's specialty is the spine (he found this on a MRI he had done on my son), he's sending us to a neurosurgeon for a more in-depth perspective. Anyone ever been told this about their child and if so, what was the result? Also, my son had a EKD and a pH probe done the week before the MRI and we were told he has significant acid reflux (which we've heard is totally common and are now treating with prevacid) and then some eosinophil cells in his small intestine (from the biopsy they took there). They only did an allergy panel and everything came back normal. So why would those cells be there in the first place is my question. I know this is kind of scattered but we're just trying to process a lot right now. Any insight would be helpful! Thank you!

What can I do next?

I agree with the other posters as well. The medicine is a cover for the acid reflux. It is probably being caused by a food allergy. Do you know if you had an IGg or IGe allergy panel test?

So sorry your son is going through all this-it has to be stressful. As for the fatty deposit, the neurosurgeon will give you more information on whether it may pose a problem with the spine, but the good news is that these fatty "tumors" are usually benign and usually never need surgery.
The eosinophils on the other hand could be an allergy (probably why they did the allergy panel), but if it came back negative, then I would consider the possibility of a parasite. Eosinophils are white blood cells that primarily show up during a parasitic infection. It sounds gross, but as a kid that probably plays outside, in dirt and with other kids, it's quite possible and common. If they hadn't done the test you would never know and his body would take care of it over time.
Give him high quality probiotics to boost his immune system and Omega-3's to support his nervous system.
God Bless and I hope everything turns out well.

I'm sorry to hear that you going through all of this. I don't know about fatty deposits but I do know about Ph probes, acid reflux, and eosinophils. My son has GERD (acid reflux). He has had a Ph probe done. He also has Eosinophilic disease. I encourage you to go to http://www.apfed.org/ (American Partnership for Eosinophilic Disorders) for more information. You will be looking for information about Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis specifically. There is also a fabulous Facebook group (Eosinophilic Family Network is the group's name) if you are on Facebook.

M. my heart goes out to you. I know how stressful it is when our children are sick and how helpless you feel. You are his advocate and it is awesome that you are seeking out as much information as possible! Jennifer is right on about the probiotic and Omega 3's. I would also encourage you to look for natural solutions to the acid reflux. The prevacid is just a band-aid to the problem and it relieves symtoms. You need to address the cause of the acid reflux. I have a friend that can help you with this issue and help you with a great probiotic and the Omega 3's. Send me a message if you would like for her to contact you.

I will add you all to my prayers.
